It’s hot. I’m so busy. I don’t have time to get clever with my outfits these days. So when I’m not wearing jeans and a striped tee shirt, I’m wearing a simple dress, sandals and statement necklace. It’s easy, great for hot weather and makes you look “finished” without much thought (because ain’t nobody got time for that- especially me, note the dead plants).
dress (on clearance)// necklace (great collab between Lizzie Fortunato and St. Frank)// sandals // sunglasses
So here are 8 versions of this uniform that can get you from a busy day running after the kids to a night out with the ladies.

I’m loving your front porch captions! I chuckled out loud!
exceptional styling for moms (or others) on the go
The other day I turned the spigot on near my plants out front and splashed water on them with my hand because I didn’t want to get the hose/watering can. As I was doing it, I told my 9-month-old, “This is not really how you water plants.” Ha ha.
You have to check out Brass Clothing! They are a local women’s clothing startup with an awesome philosophy around great basics. I’m obsessed with the stuff I’ve gotten from them so far and basically want to buy every dress they make. They are operating on small runs, so a lot of their stuff is sold out, but check them out!! (BTW, I’m not affiliated w the company in any way, I’m just a fan and want to shout about smart design for real women to anyone that will listen!) I also like MM LaFleur, but they are way pricier. Check them out too! xo
I love the outfit and the plants and sign are hilarious! I should have had a sign like that – except on my call button. Because I was at home for awhile with my daughter my UPS guy learned he could call my apartment to get rung in for other tenants. Not cool when the baby was napping!!!!!!!
This post reminds me why I love your blog. Oh and the dresses are great too. “hi weed”…….
PS – you forgot to list an accessory to this look that some of us cannot get….nice legs!!! :o
That is a really gorgeous dress! Love your uniform style. Gemma x

Number two and seven are my favorites. Everything to be comfy! Great selection!
Perfect post and selection – so easy to throw together but still looks polished. Thanks for the ideas!
I love your style and sense of humor so much! Thanks for sharing with us.
If Henry is in good shape as is your fur babies, screw the plants. Spray paint them green again and call it good.
But cute look! And you look like you really put thought into your outfit…
Perfect timing, Erin. I’ve been on the hunt for dresses like this for weeks! Thank you!
Any good summer uniforms for nursing/pumping moms? Are you out of this phase? Do you think you’d be willing to share on the blog your experience around this? I would so welcome hearing from another mom on this subject as I’m right at that stage where my supply seems diminishing, and I can’t decide to push through or introduce formula….
I’ve been using a subscription service called Mama’s Milk Box, its like stitch fix but for really cute nursing and pumping clothes! I’ve gotten two boxes so far and kept most of the stuff. Also, a lot of the clothes are work appropriate (i’m an attorney), and I especially love the dresses. You can check them out on instagram to get an idea of the clothes. my summer “uniform” when i’m at home is shorts and a nursing top or tank or a nursing dress, and at work i wear the dresses and tops with a skirt and blazer or suit.
This post is so on point! I love and want EVERY.SINGLE.OUTFIT!
I think you look great! This is my favourite kind of dressing – easy but pulled together. PS you can just remove those urns with the dead plants – that would probably look a little better! ;)
How is the sizing on your Madewell dress? I’m always reluctant to order online from them since it’s hard to tell how things fit. Thanks!
I was JUST looking at the dress – so cute and ready to pull the trigger but does it fit like a shift? Thanks Erin for this post!
Great Friday post! My kind of summertime fashion ~ thank you!
That sign is spot on . I remember how mad i’d get if the doorbell or the phone ringing woke my babies. Your summer strategy for looking simply put together looks unoverwrought which to me is the chicest. Staying cool in both senses.
