An easy way to perk up your bedroom for spring and summer is with fresh new linens. I rarely use a complete matching set (it reminds me of 90’s “Bed-in-a-Bags”) but rather mix different kinds of shams, duvets, quilts and pillows. Here are a few schemes I pulled together that say “SUMMER” to me!
Scheme 1- I love this Dorothy Bedding from Biscuit with it’s cool blue and tiny red dot floral. Bring out the red with their pique shams and a patterned accent pillow or two.
Scheme 2- Cornflower blue is SO happy for summer- use solid quilted Euro shams along the back of the bed, bordered king shams and duvet and then fun floral accent pillows from Lulie Wallace.
Scheme 3- I just about DIED over this blush otomi headboard (pair of twin beds in a little girls room anyone??). Pair it with blush tipped bedding and a funky bolster with an ethnic feel.
Scheme 4- This fern wallpaper would be stunning on the wall behind a wood spindle bed or linen headboard. On the bed use these patterned Euro shams, bordered king shams (bonus point for getting them embroidered) and use a white duvet or quit and this cozy cashmere throw in green!
Scheme 5- Channel Mark Sikes with this seersucker-type stripe duvet and shams, this gorgeous Les Indiennes quilt and funky striped throw pillow.
I love the blue bedding designs. They are soft and yet colorfully suited.
If I need anything it’s new bedding. I’ve often found very neutral colors but I’m inspired to step outside the box with colors this summer. Thanks for the inspiration :-)
Blessings,
Elizabeth
I have been waiting for a post like this! We live in gov’t leased housing where – wherever we are in the world – the walls are white and more often than not we can’t paint. I have been wanting to go bolder with my bedding to add some life to the room, and blue is my preference for a calming bedroom. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the blue and white combinations! What would be your solution to king size coverlets that shrink when washed? I can never find them large enough!
I luv to mix it up with bedding…guest room, spare room, master, etc. They all coordinate one way or five. franki
Beautiful choices. For summer I always think of chenille bedspreads. I know they’re a little granny like. Would love to see some ideas on how to style them in a modern way. Thanks!
That otomi headboard is crazy good!! Otomi is killing me right now. I came across Anthropologie’s Folkloric Forest wallpaper last night and it sent me into a tizzy of trying to figure out where I could get away with using it. I have a little girl, so uh, hello! I think after her baby nursery, she’s getting an otomi room.
Love these inspired options! Can you offer any suggestions on upholstered beds to coordinate nicely with the lovely Matouk choices?
Also totallly guilty of bed in a bag- but trying to broaden my horizons! That pink headboard is amazing!

I have gotten hooked on antique bedding. Linen or cotton. Embroidered by hand by some bride-to-be. Just gorgeous, and the quality is amazing. What thread count!!! But just white.
I iron them for our vacation rentals, but I’m too lazy to do it for home. Hung to dry outside, they smell like heaven.
Guilty of”Bed in a bag”. But I’m trying harder these days. Pretty choices.
