Some would consider cornflower/hydrangea blue strictly a summer color. But I love wearing this color year round, as it really brings such life to my face and I always seem to get compliments when I wear it. It’s happy and bold but still soft.
(wearing these earrings today with this cashmere ruana while looking at this hydrangea on my desk)
My friend Sarah has this stunning cornflower blue wool coat from Tibi that I have coveted for years. So when I saw the Boden coat (#1) in the catalog recently I had to order it. And it made me think of how great this color looks for the tricky transition between summer and fall. Mixed with oranges, fig and olive green (a favorite- and also THE color for fall) it adds some punch and a little unexpectedly flair as the temps turn a bit chillier. Here are some items in this shade I love, and some color pairing suggestions you may not have considered.
Also, if any of you will be on Nantucket next week I’m doing a little book signing at the fab Margaux pop up shop! Please stop by and say hello (and bonus- their shoes are amazing.)
Have a happy and safe long weekend everyone.
Great post, I love this color so much!

I just saved that Loft tunic to my wishlist and I am buying it next pay check, lol! I love the idea of this color paired with olive green and I think it would work great with the dark mustard color I’m obsessed with right now.

This was also our wedding color 30 yrs ago👍.
Love these posts!
Probably my favorite shade of the blues…wearing it today as well!! Luv’d your display in “Traditional Home” magazine…front and center, girl!! KUDOS!! franki
Hydrangea blue was our main wedding color/flower for our September 4th wedding! Even though it was 18 years ago, I’m feeling pretty smart that it’s still a color that someone with as much style as yourself thinks bridges summer and fall beautifully!!
PS, those earrings are diviiiiine!!
“Carolina blue” is always a yes in NC!
I just looked down and realized my tunic is this exact shade, and my scarf is mostly blue with hits of orange, red and citrine yellow. I must have had a sneak peek of your blog post when I packed my yoga bag this morning…
Blue always works!
Great post! I love that you’re serving mimosas and donuts at your book signing. All the bases covered!
I want to buy all the things. You knocked it out of the park this week! I’m going to try to buy only a few of the things!
Love that you gave us some colors to pair with! Very helpful :)
♥♥♥ blue and you have shown some great pieces and colors to mix it up. The first picture with the ticking stripe is my sofa fabric and it has become such a great neutral piece in my home. Olive is so fun and I am going to mix it with a citrine yellow and some blush and I might even add a touch of red in there. Love your fashion post and always feel inspired when I read them!! Thank you for your sourcing, writing and hard work,
