I am a frustrated baker at heart. I have always LOVED baking, and wish I could translate my creativity and art skills into amazing cakes. Alas, I do not have the time- and when I do, I often get so frustrated by working with icing that I give up and just eat the hot mess I’ve created. So I am in awe with the work of baker/artist/pastry wizard Alana Jones-Mann in Los Angeles. She makes such incredible cakes and bakes goods- many with clear influences from the design world! Here are a few of my favorites paired with interior compliments!
Can yuo EVEN with this palm leaf wallpaper cake? Because I can’t.
The wallpaper it’s based on.
I mean, Pinterest gold people. GOLD.
How much fun is this Otomi cake?
Inspired by the fabulous fabric handmade in Mexico- great for pillows, bedding and upholstery.
A stunning rock crystal cake.
And a pretty rock crystal lamp!
Agate slice cookies (here’s the how-to if you’re feeling adventurous!)
Agate coasters // Agate slice box
Check out these gorgeous marble and tile inspired cakes! Right up any decorator’s alley!
I cannot get over this wedding cake and especially these succulent cupcakes!!!!
Succulent planters to decorate any small spot in the home.
A freestyle cake she did “just for fun”. OMG.
So reminds me of one of the work my favorite painters Robert Rea!
Gemstone cupcakes- so glam.
Amethyst geode, great for jazzing up a bookcase.
Agate bookends, ditto to above. :)
And here are some I just love because they are so stunning.
Just a little sweet treat for you on this Wednesday :)
I’m so happy to see this post on your blog, Erin. I started following Alana Jones-Mann on Instagram a couple months ago after seeing one of her geode cakes somewhere. She is so talented and creative! She’s definitely worth an Instagram follow!!! Love that you found her, too!
Incredible! Any info on that gorgeous brass dining table?
Who makes the Palm Leaf wallpaper, is it Martinique from the Beverly Hills hotel?
These are too cute for words. Love.
These are mind blowing! Wow I wish I could make cakes like these =o) Great inspirations!

love this post! so great! thanks erin
in my next life, i want to come back as a cake decorator with that much talent!
Erin! This is the most gorgeous post EVER and you already set the bar really high for yourself! Made y day. Thank you for sharing these beautiful designs. Loved.
WOW! These are just amazing. I loooove to bake and used to make iced cookies for every holiday when my son was young. I have never attempted a cake. I have a Pinterest page called, It’s Iced Iced Baby. (Yet another thing we have in common, i think you are my spirit animal!!)
So gorgeous! Those agate-slice cookies and gemstone cupcakes would be a big hit at any party.
Thanks for a really fun round-up, Erin. Now I want to play hostess and serve exquisite desserts to my guests. ;)
I LOVE this post! Absolutely delightful- thank you!
Now…I’m hungry… franki
OMG! Would love an otomi ottoman just like the otomi cake!
Lovely! The fig and mum cake for a November Wedding…how pretty would that be?

Wow. Just wow.
And kudos to you for finding design inspiration in cake when you’re sick and sleep deprived!
You are so right…Pinterest gold!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Stunning! Absolutely love them all!
Such a dangerous post, Erin! Now I must have CAKE with my lunch, but those goodies look AMAZING!!!
Oh, those are fabulous! I’ve decorated cupcakes a few times but never came close to these =)
Oh man – I am going to have to try my hand at those cactus cupcakes for Cinco de Mayo but why do I feel like they won’t look at all similar! Oh well, as you rightly point out even if it doesnt look good its still cake!
Incredible!! Can’t believe some of those are edible!
The wallpaper cakes are probably done with an edible ink printer and fondant sheets, so not as magical to me. But that otomi cake – SWOON! I wonder if someone did that piping freehand.
What a fun post – I hope you’re feeling better today, Erin!
Jenna, thank you for clearing that up for me on the wallpaper cakes. I’m still going with tiny elves on the rest of these…
These are amazing!!!
That palm wallpaper will *always* remind me of Blanche Devereaux’s bedroom on The Golden Girls!
Yes!
I always think of Blanche. I’m surprised no one ever else mentions this.
Same here :)
Uhhhhhhhhmazing!
That does it. I’m asking for a banana leaf plant for mother’s day!
One of my favorite posts of yours! So fun! Combining my two loves…design + sweets. :-) I find agate just so beautiful…we used agate door knobs from Anthropologie to spruce up the built-in cabinets in our living room and they totally make it!
I am trying to figure out how the hell she did this. Beyond stunning. That wallpaper cake … in my mind, i’m picturing some sort of edible pattern that can be very carefully applied to the cake. Then up pops the Otomi cake and I’m completely in the dark. And the mineral cookies?
New thought; tiny elves sneak into the bakery each night and do magic.
I agree, magical! Mine never turn out this beautifully. Thank you for the hump day inspiration ?
Those are all way too pretty to eat!

Feathers and Stripes
Unbelievable! The succulent cupcakes are so perfect!
So gorgeous! Very inspiring – but I don’t think I could pull that off either!
