Despite the name, Hôtel de Caumont, this is not actually a hotel. It’s a chateau in Aix-en-Provence that has been painstakingly restored into an arts center and cafe (also a wedding venue, HOLY SMOKES CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE?) The interiors were done by Didier Benderli, and are so spectacular I had to share. Mark this place down on my bucket list of travels for sure.
The de Gournay paper shown here is so amazing.
Now I want a pink upholstered Louis sofa.
The art hung from the moulding over upholstered walls is just incredible. And those chairs….
Every detail was clearly thought about in depth.
One of the rooms set up for an event.
This is an amazing example of French architecture.
The bold orange interior of these built ins is genius (and reminds me a little of Hermès, no?)
The exterior and gardens are perfection as well.
Here’s a little round up of items inspired by this spectacular place. Has anyone been??

This chateau looks phenomenal! The combination of modern plus antique makes it a dream wedding destination! The detailing on the furniture is very intricate. Love how you used more pictures in your post!

Oh my. We were in Aix in late March, walked by this hotel several times as we stayed in a beautiful place only two blocks away. I never knew this existed. Sigh. Thanks for the gorgeous post, Erin. Next time…
I was there this summer. It was just as lovely as you say. All of Aix is delightful.
Oh, if walls could talk….franki
It always seems to be the spaces that are completely opposite of what I’m most comfortable living and working in that I become obsessed and inspired by. My built ins aren’t nearly as spectacular as these, but this gives me the sense that they could be elevated by a little color refresh and still fit right in around here. Beautiful place.
Shame on me! I live 30 km from Aix en Provence and never went there !
It’s an art center.
There’s an amazing exhibition these days about the Guggenheim museum masterpieces (Picasso, Manet…)

Lovely! Wonder if it’s any where near designer Timothy Corrigan’s digs–Chateau du Grand-Luce?? A wedding at either would be amazing.
All the wallpaper in this hotel is giving me life, I’m obsessed!

Hi!
I really like your blog and being french, I am a bit peculiar about some details, so I wanted to share this with you: the reason this building is called a hotel, not a chateau, is because it is a “hotel particulier” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hôtel_particulier
The main difference is that this is an in town building, whereas Chateaux and Manoirs typically are out of town with their own land or estate.
I love you posts about various interiors, please do this more!
