While the news that the Duchess of Sussex is with child is a wee bit triggering for me emotionally, I can’t help but be very excited about another royal baby. I mean, is this girl’s life for real? She marries a prince and now gets to have a baby that will have a tiny BRITISH ACCENT, which happens to be every girl who’s seen The Holiday‘s dream come true? Come on, share the wealth, girlfriend! :)
So I had fun creating dreamed up nurseries for this lucky baby (which I will bet $100 is a girl). For the nursery if it’s a princess, I used a deGornay African landscape mural (since they are said to have fallen in love there) with the ceilings papered in Osborne & Little gold stars to create an enveloping experience of camping in the bush. I paired that with some bright yellow silk draperies and a traditional rug, because you know, PRINCESS. But Meghan is a modern lady, so I added some touches of that in the vintage lighting (British, of course) and the four poster brass crib, channel back glider and animal print pillow (pattern name: Tanzania!) The traditional yet modern sofa is by British brand Julian Chichester and is upholstered in a taupe mohair. The plaster rosettes are from Ben Pentreath’s shop (he designed Kate and William’s home) and one is even of the Tudor Rose. :) I personally love this nursery and think it reflects tradition but with a modern edge- like Meghan and Harry (ALL LINKS BELOW)

For another Prince, I started with one of my favorite papers by Sian Zeng that is made in England and depicts English country houses and animals in the woods. It even comes in a version that is magnetic. I would paint all the trim in the room Farrow & Ball’s Lulworth Blue and accent with a blue vintage rug. A brass crib (probably passed down from some royal someone) is charming and classic while the trunk inspired changer adds a dash of masculine whimsy. Striped roman shades, a plaid pillow and gingham sheets and an Irish knitted throw add more pattern and texture.

Thanks for the lovely post! The royals are such traditionalists that I believe the real nursery for this little one will consist mostly of items used in the past, for instance, Harry’s (or some other family member’s) crib, dresser, toys, and so on. Maybe not, but I get that feeling! Anyway, thanks for your ideas.
Wow you are so very talented. your eye never stops, from fall booties to royal nurseries! There is so much yet to come for you. Thank you for sharing your gifts!! :) :)

Gorgeous! Stunning! Beautiful! Inspired! Stylish! Just like you. Thank you for sharing your talent and energy, your vulnerability and strength. Best wishes.
Wow Erin. I don’t think that there could be a better design concept for a nursery! Stunning.
Erin–
I’m a long-time follower and admirer of yours. This post is amazing, just love your style!
Also, sending best wishes and thoughts your way!
Love your comment about the little girls from the movie, The Holiday. Those two girls were so adorable and my favorite part of the movie. I loved the scene where they were laying in their tent and said something about being the Three Musketeers and Jude Law reaches over to squeeze Cameron Diaz’s hand. One of the best movie scenes ever!
These are both stunning! I hope they find their way to Meghan & Harry – I’m sure they will want to use them. ;) And I completely understand how difficult it can be to hear about other pregnancies when you are struggling to conceive. I went through that for years before we finally had our first baby via IVF. He’s just 4 months old, so we’re not ready to try again yet, just trying to survive. Also, his middle name is Henry. And I just love following along with your Henry and imagining my sweet boy growing up.
Ooh, so much good ness here. I’d mix and match. The mural, silk drapes, star ceiling, with the trunk dresser and throw. Maybe some more tan leather .
She does look gorgeous in that yellow dress.
Hello Erin,
I’m so excited for their baby! But at the same time knowing that your going through what you are is hard. Praying for you and all the other ladies out there facing the same issues.
BTW, I was wondering if you could do a post about decoration ideas for a teenager girls room?
I am 15 years old and I can’t seem to find anything that’s quite right.
Whenever I search ‘teenage girl room ideas’ or whatever it always comes up with either a very pink room or a graffiti wall and a black duvet!!
I love your style, and have your first book…soooo excited for No.2. I love how you intertwined personal stories with each room/section of a house. Some of them were absolutely hilarious!
And others were extremely close to home-especially the section about self confidence and body dysmorphia.
Anyways, blah de blah blah…I would really appreciate it if you could come up with a couple of designs for a nice room.
Thank you so much, congratulations on getting to the end of this looonnngg comment and best of luck with everything,
Tamie
Well, I’m 68 and, Tamie, your comments and Erin’s reply have made my day. Can I adopt both of you?
Erin, I’m with you — it’s totally a girl! The princess nursery is perfection. They definitely need to hire you.
I love this request! You should email us pics of your room for my new Style Solutions series! Send to [email protected]
love!
Exciting for them and happy you have your own little prince 👑.
I thought about you as well when I heard the news his morning.
And I as I read your post I thought, wow, wouldn’t it be amazing if Erin DID get hired to do the nursery? But then you wouldn’t get to talk about it and qwhat good would that be??!
Sending good thoughts and vibes your way….BTW, your princess nursery is STUNNING
But I would know!!! Lol!!! 😂😜
Erin, you are so amazingly talented!! Love both of these nursery looks and Harry and Meghan couldn’t do better than picking one of them for their baby. Sending you virtual hugs and unlimited support. xo
I knew she was pregnant! I thought I saw a baby bump and then Meghan recently started dressing differently…looser clothing so I was not surprised to hear the news. Beautiful nurseries you put together!
So exciting for the Duke and Duchess! Bring on another Royal Baby! Both lovely nurseries for Baby Sussex. I’m totally digging the first one. Fun wallpaper!

Been thinking of you all day! I figured your love of Meghan (and babies) would bring about more excitement than anything else, but still sending positive vibes your way and hope you’re hanging in there.
Can you please add the source for the yellow silk drapes?
Just inspo- would need to be custom made
The princess one would be so cute! I LOVE the energy the ceiling fixture brings to teh mix.
I was waiting for your post, I knew you would jump on this! You have to be happy for them. Harry is going to be a great dad! So sad that Diana misses all this she would have been an amazing Grandma. Megan is a storybook come true.
whoa these nurseries are gorgeous. i’ve had yellow silk drapes on my pinterest for AGES and am thinking i have to do them in the master bedroom…
you’re a champ for admitting your own feelings and still being able to celebrate. big hugs. :)
I read the news this morning while sitting in the waiting area of my fertility Dr. so… same. Can’t help but be happy for them, though!
Me too – definitely lots of us out there.
Love love love the princess nursery!
I hope someone forwards these designs to the Duchess … along with all the adorable wardrobe suggestions you’ve made for a little prince or princess (if the Queen permits the title, I was amazed to learn they’re not automatically given!).
Hopefully this will also inspire some fabulous maternity wardrobe suggestions as you and the Duchess share some serious wardrobe DNA…
Love both nurseries. You are so talented. Hope you are hanging in there and hoping you are sharing good news whatever that may be soon! xxxx SO excited for book #2.
Hi Erin,
I thought of you when I heard the news this morning; hope you’re hanging in there. Thanks, as always, for the gorgeous post and inspiration!
