Henry starts KINDERGARTEN next week (I can’t believe it) and so I thought today in honor of his big “back to school” week I’d share some of the stuff I’ve been eying for him! He is strictly “cozy pants only” right now (no jeans and nothing “handsome”- gosh, Mom) so I’m trying to find pull on pants that look like jeans or corduroys that are lined in cozy material to trick him. ;)

I love your outfit posts for the kids. I use your ideas a lot. Thank you and please keep them coming🥰
I don’t even have a boy and I love this post. super cute!
Super helpful to branch out of the places we typically look for! Thanks Erin!
Love the vest in look #1. Where is it from?
I can’t even right now. Seriously? This is the most adorable post. Have so much fun Erin, dropping off at Kindy. Takes me back to the DAY!

Please keep us posted on whether he’ll wear any of these things! :) I say that because my Henry, who is also starting kindergarten this year, has to be bribed to wear anything other than basketball shorts and ugly character t-shirts. I desperately want him to wear one outfit a week that I can choose…outfit 3 gives me some ideas and hope. Going to try to ease into it with more joggers and vests. Thanks for the selections!
Awe! I remember those days (sob!!) Good call on cozy; layers are a good call too. I remember the only time my highly sensitive daughter wore a skirt with leotards to school — she came home, marched in the door, ripped off the leotards, swung them around her head in anger and threw them on the floor, while yelling, “I AM NEVER WEARING THESE THINGS AGAIN!!” I will always remember that. She stayed true to her word. When she graduated from high-school, she wore socks and birkenstocks underneath her beautiful ball gown. The dress was long enough that you couldn’t tell and she was comfortable. So I guess the motto for my kids has always been, “comfort is key”. I had a friend whose kids always looked immaculate. Perfect. Not a hair out of place. The mom chose absolutely everything and would not allow any argument. I always wondered how she accomplished this, but I decided a long time ago to give up control in that area, unless it was an event or something that required a dress code. It wasn’t worth the battle.
This took me back. My daughters were similar and wore flip-flops under their prom dresses. They gathered with their dates in a nearby garden for photos with a bunch of parents armed with cameras. We moms all knew about the flip-flops but being from a different generation, called them something else. As we were taking different shots, one mom called out, “C’mon girls, lift up your skirts and show us your thongs!” Oh, the red faces…
I love all of these selections-cool and classic. Now as a former preschool teacher I commend Henry on his choice for “Comfy Pants”. (They are usually so much easier for children to handle themselves at school then zippers, snaps, belts and buckles! Best wishes to Henry for a great school year. Don’t forget the “First Day of School “ picture, and of, course, tissues for Mom and Dad.
Oooh cute! Love these! Could you post a girl back to school guide too? I know Emma is too young still but those of us with older girls could sure benefit from your eye!!
I don’t have “littles” to buy for any more, but I’ve heard from so many moms and grandmas that the “cozy pants” are the only pants any of these little ones want to wear any more…boys and girls. I guess it’s because it’s been their uniform for over a year and a half and they realized, like all of us, that they ARE comfortable. I LOVE my “cozy” pants!
My son is 19 and still only wanting to wear “cozy” pants!
Enjoy this stage while you can! Soon it will be only hoodies, shorts and ‘snuggly’ pants. These days anything with a collar or button is reserved for church, the ‘club’ or golf. Save your money for Emma – you’re gonna need it!!;)
He has a different backpack for every day of the week?
Great selections, and definitely giving me ideas for my 7 y.o. son who likes to look “cool not cute” 😉 Love the best in the first outfit but doesn’t appear to be linked. Can you kindly share the source? Thanks!
Hi Abby! I loved it too, and managed to track it down at Boden. Looks like it’s called Sherpa Vest – Natural Tan.
