I saw this D. Stanley Dixon designed Atlanta home in the most recent Veranda (one of the few amazing home magazines still standing, RIP Traditional Home) and absolutely loved interior designer Amy Morris’ use of texture and tone to create a totally interesting and complex design, with almost ZERO actual color. The other thing I adore is the juxtaposition of antique and modern pieces– a classic portrait painting and super sculptural modern table int he same room? YES PLEASE.
Also, take notice of those studded leather doors above and below– what an amazing detail. In the sunroom below you can see there is only a hint of color- chartreuse- which in my opinion is THE best color with rich wood antiques and doses of black and white.
The shelving in this “scullery” kitchen kills me, it’s so beautiful. And the antique island with the marble top paired with the extra thick black surrounding counters is the perfect pairing. Also, note the mix of metals— SO MANY! And yet it totally works, right? And to think this isn’t even the REAL kitchen!
THIS is the kitchen– the painted white brick stove surround with the pot rack above is totally an homage to days of old– but then the light over the island is super modern. It’s pretty genius.
The butler’s pantry is so charming with it’s little skirted countertop area.
The eye-level brass trimmed fireplace is pretty amazing in the dining room no?
I love the clean lines of the stair railings too.
Those BEAMS!
This is the guest room, y’all. I’m dead. I would never leave.
This bathroom is impeccable- I love it all. But what I love best? It’s the HUSBAND’S bathroom- yes, they each have their own bathrooms. Talk about amazing.

I’m usually not a fan of neutral spaces, but I’d move into this house in a heartbeat. It is a beautiful and sophisticated mix of modern and traditional, and the black throughout really pulls it together for me. It is so refreshing to see this gorgeous space- thanks for sharing!
My Tradition Home just arrived. No mention of it leaving us. What do you know? Love this home.
Yes! This type of home is amazing because it takes real hunting and patience to put it together. That’s why it’s so unique and authentic. Thanks for sharing and showing your ideas – spot on! And Veranda has been knocking it out of the park. I’ve also been enjoying Milleu.
This is an amazing combination of styles that is both classic and comfortably inviting. So many details and wonderful surprises throughout this home. Thank you for sharing. I could move right in ……😉
Is the tile in the bathroom Navy? If so, I love, love love for sure! So different.
I saw it too…absolutely “da bomb!!” franki
This is a gorgeous home and your shopping selections are spot on – thank you! I agree with Elizabeth that this is a beautiful departure from what we commonly see. Would love to know when the house was built. Looking forward to reading the print article. Thanks, Erin!
Love this! Gorgeous details.
Wow – those studded leather doors – swooning!

Hi! Can you relink #12? Both 12 and 20 are linked to the area rug.
Fixed it but in case: https://rstyle.me/n/drm9cqnxe6
Three things – 1. this is beautiful work.
2. I got a postcard yesterday saying they would replace my Traditional Home magazine with Better Homes & Gardens. I called and told them to send me a refund instead. The $4 that is being mailed to me is mostly symbolic, but I wanted them to know that BHG does not equal TH. I can’t stand the cheap thin paper BHG is printed on, aside from any design philosophy differences.
3. In the 8th picture (with the beams) the fencing masks are displayed on iron stands. WHERE can I find similar stands? I’m sure theirs were custom, but not all the stands in all the magazines I’ve seen them in can be custom. Do you have a ready made source? I came up empty on Etsy, which surprised me. Thank you!!!
I’ve seen similar at Wisteria… but I bet many are custom made for the objects they are choosing to display!
The also have stands in the new Ballard Designs catalog.
I love everything about this!! I have always loved white rooms, especially if anchored with a strong color, like black. This is so perfect in every single way!!
I subscribe to Veranda magazine. An absolute pleasure…highly recommended. 🙂🙂
Wow–this is GORGEOUS. We are so bombarded with design, via social media, Pinterest, etc., that it all tends to run together and become white noise, but for me, this really stands out. I think it’s the classic/chic neutrals with just the *right* brown pieces added in, which really calls attention to how unique they are. Btw, I didn’t know about the death of Traditional Home, but I can’t say I’m surprised since I had major sticker shock the last time I went to pick up a copy at an airport newsstand.
