As you know, I finished Emma’s nursery in our old house like 5 minutes ago. And I thought I’d just recreate it in this house (the only issue being that her room can’t have drapes – only roman shades – because it’s on the third floor and has window seats under the windows – which are adorable). I could cut up my insanely expensive Hollyhock curtains and make romans, but I really like them as they are, so I decided to use them in the guest room, which I painted F&B Lulworth Blue to coordinate. Her rug will go in there as well, and the rattan ottoman (with matching chair now…).
So it’s a fresh start for Emma. And I know I said I was probably going to do pink, and I tried, I pulled every pink wallpaper I saw that struck my fancy. But I kept coming back to Colefax & Fowler’s Bowood. I know, it’s been DONE and then DONE some more. But I just LOVE it for her, and this room – with its lower ceilings and angles. Something about it just felt right. So I decided to not fight it, and go for it. Although I am doing a newer colorway (the original has a very creamy/beige ground paper with violet accents. I do not like purple much, so I chose this new colorway with a white ground and pale blue highlights). So off we go! I am going to reupholster her crib panels and use the Pierre Frey fabric on it now for pillows elsewhere in the house. The glider is the same, as is the changer, but I’m going to use one of my own Momeni rugs and add in some rattan accents through the etagere and mirror.
A reminder that this is the room:
It’s gonna be so cute :)
Emma and Henry will have their own level, which is so nice as they get older. I’m still kinda stuck on Henry’s room – but he LOVES it even in its unfinished, unstyled state, so I really can’t lose! :)
I bought those book cases recently, they don’t ship until May! Ugh, lead times are killing me this year!
This is such a beautiful soothing palette.
What about ceiling? Will you add crown molding? You can’t beat a classic! I would like to suggest blogs on low ceiling ideas and family friendly fabrics. Thank you!
I love your tastes! You’re a true inspiration
It’s going to be beautiful! Emma is a very lucky little girl! Just a thought-had you considered swapping the pillow fabric and the stripe to use the squiggly green pillow fabric for the roman shade? I think it would be beautiful against the wallpaper with a pretty pompon trim – just the right amount of youthfulness. You could use the striped fabric to make a pillow with concentric squares (which I think you did for another room?) maybe w a block print are floral on the reverse side. Sorry if I’m overstepping, I just love doing girls rooms.
Feels very fresh and love that wallpaper! So glad you are not cutting up the beautiful curtains and repurposing them in the guest room.
It’s beautiful, Erin! Can’t wait to see it come to fruition. I wanted to ask if you’d share the window seat fabric? It’s not linked and I’m curious what it is? I love green and this is such a pretty shade
Beautiful! Love that its not so “nursery”… very timeless. I’m enjoying your renovation details and so impressed with how you’re repurposing so many things. It’s a nice message that you don’t have to throw out everything when you move or remodel. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous, at any age.
The Classic Bowood. Love the English country house vibe. Appropriately princess pretty while she’s tiny, but should grow with her. Lucky Emma!
Love this! It’s perfect for a little girl!
Heaven! I chose pink for my little Judy’s nursery (Laura Ashley 1992😉) after our sweet baby Andrew died…long story short – when Judy was about 18 months old, I realized her absolute favorite color was blue! 🤦♀️
I’m sorry for your loss, Liz.
Do you have a source for the window seat cushion? Performance fabric woes over here for the largest window seats in the land.
Looks beautiful!!! When will your next rug line come out?
Thanks!
Lovely Erin, just lovely! Dormers and window seats…sigh…
It’s going to be SO beautiful. The wallpaper is stunning and I cannot wait to see the space be completely transformed!
Brilliant using fabric that is barely 6 months old as pillows! Kudos to you! Can’t wait to see a total Before and After of every room – even if some of the rooms are temporary fixes!
Love this wallpaper! It will grow with her!
This looks so gorgeous and serene. And full of Spring! I can’t wait to see it finished. I would have loved to see the room done in pink as well! I love that green circle artwork but whoa pricey for a kiddo room. I wonder if there are similar abstracts like this for less?
