Sorry this is late- Henry’s nanny is out sick so I’m a little behind! A lot of you have asked me on Instagram to do another post about where I shop for Henry– so here you go, a big roundup of where I shop again and again for the little man. Shopping for girls is easy (my ovaries shudder every time I see something baby girl that is leopard) but boys are a little harder, so I hope this helps!
Gap and Old Navy constantly leave packages by my door not only because their stuff in on trend and well made for the price, but they are ALWAYS having a sale (like right now, 35% off everything). They have total classics too, like the cable sweater below that I bought when it was on clearance last spring in every size- he’ll probably have one for every year until he goes to college).
Mini Boden and Joules are British brands that are so well made and adorably fun. Bright colors, lots of stripes and cute details.
Carter’s/ Oshkosh is such a good deal, sometimes I feel like the deals I find are criminal. I stick to the items that aren’t emblazoned with phrases like “Mommy’s Little Studmuffin” or other creepy things and go for more of the mini sized man garb like this fleece vest and plaid shirt (I stopped buying mini dress shirts because they have to be ironed and ain’t nobody got time to iron baby clothes!) Target also had a new line out called Cat & Jack that is really cute.
Zara is great for sweet European influenced looking basics and more “high fashion” looking pieces. Henry’s had three of those striped bateau tees! H&M is where ALL his basics come from- the onesies and tees are so affordable and I love that they don’t have the foldover shoulders but rather two snaps so no bagging. :)
Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack have trendier things, but also great lines like Boden, Tucker & Tate, Peek, fashion denim and the like.
Other I shop at are Janie & Jack when I want him to look uber-preppy or like he runs his own private equity firm, Hanna Andersson (almost every pair of PJ’s is from here- they are so high quality and last a long time!) and Polarn O. Pyret for striped basics (also really well made- they run HUGE though, fair warning).
Some fancier/ European brands I love that I’ve picked up at various small boutiques ( in Boston I love NRO Kids, Fritz & Gigi, Tiny Hanger , Red Wagon and psyched to check out new shops Kodomo and CouCou ) are Mayoral (awesome pants!), Petit Bateu and Egg by Susan Lazar.
Where are your fave places to shop for baby?
Enjoy this time that you get to pick his clothes, because before long he will have his own opinions and yours won’t matter. I’ll never forget the last time I set clothes out for my boys to match. My oldest was only 7 and he refused to wear what I had planned. He said “I’m not his twin and I’m not dressing like I am”. They are both college students now, and to this day, if their shirts are too similar they both change!!
I have two girls. They are my best accessories :) Nice choices for boys! I don’t like those baseball and football shirts/clothes for boys either. If I would’ve had a boy my husband and I would’ve probably got a divorce because I’d want to dress him in classic preppy clothes, preferrably from Bella Bliss. My husband would want him in cargos and a concert tee. Bella Bliss is my favorite children’s line for my girls. They have really cute boy clothes too! Check them out. Even Gwenyth is a fan :)
Once he gets to 2T you’ve got Vineyard Vines (although I think they might have baby stuff now)…I try to snatch up a few things at their end of season sale 50% off markdowns and I’ll buy for next season!
The lamp-pocketed sweater is so cute!
I like your picks–although I stay away from the expensive stuff, except if it’s something special, because they grow so quickly! One other place I sometimes buy from is Smocked Auctions online. I’ve gotten most of my monogrammed stuff there and have found everything I’ve purchased to be good quality.
Carter’s and Osh Kosh fit my son so well. He was on the chunkier side. I’m expecting my second child and another boy in December and have finally gotten the urge to shop for him. I’ve heard good things about Hanna Anderson so I’ll have to check them out. Timely post for me!
This post came at a great time for me, sent my great nephew some cute outfits for his 1st birthday! You have impeccable taste:) Thanks!
Nothing Jacadi? I’m gutted…. But seriously Henry is an adorable boy!
I forgot! My favorite outfit of his is Jacadi from Bloomies! A fortune but soooooo adorbs.
you should check out pettit bateau, for all your french/stripes needs xx
Great post! I have a girl but love many of the same places and have also avoided anything with words – also characters or lights (sneakers) – for 5 years. It’s been hard.
Amazing finds, I am going through them to see if I can find versions for my 6-year old! It seems like just yesterday he was tiny. I am still cracking up about the baby private equity firm, that is exactly Janie & Jack. ;)
Love it all! This may be a Southern thing, but believe it or not, I get so many of my favorite clothes for my baby boy at Wal-Mart. I recently got 2 solid color polo-style shirts with 2 pairs of little plaid shorts, and my total bill was $8. HA! I think they’re adorable and he looks like a little preppy golfer. :) Love your blog and your sweet Henry is just presh!
CouCou and Kodomo are both fabulous! We recently launched a brand new children’s clothing brand (designed with families in mind and all made by moms in the USA!) and we’re doing our Fall launch at CouCou on September 9 & 10 – complete with prosecco and a free gift Saturday afternoon!

My 15 month old grandson lives in Europe and his mom loves to dress him in American clothes, apparently it’s uber-cool. Gap and Carters are her current favorites, and she insists that the quality is heads above what they can find/afford at home. One exception is Hanna Andersson, the softest, sturdiest pj’s and basics you can get.
I used to love Toobydo and Egg Baby for my son as well as Haiden Surf (but sadly I think they don’t make kids clothes anymore).
Great post!
Today, the Washington Post had an article on declining sales at women’s retailers, the result of poorly made clothes: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/08/26/why-are-sales-suffering-at-so-many-womens-stores-they-made-bad-clothes/?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-d%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.c54f0c4dcf8c.
I thought of you and this blog, since you’ve commented on this before. I also feel like the baby/kids clothes at these retailers seem to be better quality than the women’s clothes (like Gap and ON).
Sorry for the slightly off topic comment! I thought you might like to read this though.
Thank you! I could not agree more!!!!
The Cat & Jack line at Target also has some freakin’ adorable shoes that I died over – some tweed and leather ones similar in vibe to the Zara high-tops you linked, but much cheaper. My 5-yr old will of course wear his Star Wars light-up shoes 98% of the time, but figured I could at least enforce the leather/tweed awesomeness on picture day.
I love Boden and Jack and Janie! and Hanna Andersen for pajamas!
I’m always on the hunt for cool boy clothes… ZARA kids is my ultimate fav!
Aahhh, this post makes me wish out twin boys were still in these sizes. They are now in the 3-4T size. I think the Carter’s fleece vests were the best and luckily they still sell these in little boys sizes. Luckily we have a girl still working these sizes and you covered some of our favorite brands. We are also all about Baby CZ, Fina Ejerique and Patachou at the moment. :)
Jojo Maman Bebe is another awesome British brand with great quality.
I second Jojo Maman Bebe! love their stuff – you can sometimes get on Zulily or Gilt for better prices. cutest sweaters ever!
Baby Cottons has the softest polo shirts. and classics like Florence Eiseman and Bella Bliss are great!
Awesome post, thanks!
So jealous! My baby boy is off to college this week:( Wish he would fit into the “Never Grow Up” sweatshirt! Such adorable stuff these days. Cherish every moment, it goes way too fast!
Joe Fresh has some great stuff! And insanely good prices. Love your list! I go for the same, little man look vs. cheesy baby garb :)
would LOVE to see a post just like this for girls in the future!! with all that spare time you have :)
It would be ten times as long because holy hell there is so much good stuff.
Use a hair straightener to “iron” hems and collars on baby clothes-so much easier!
Brilliant!
I’ll bet that would work on the collars on my husband’s rugby style shirts as well. Because I’m not exactly sure how to put up my ironing board anymore. I conveniently forgot. No really.
Honestly, if I could grow those clothes up to my size, I’d have my perfect capsule wardrobe. Just add leopard flats and some ankle bootes and I’m good to go.
Zara! Great European influenced clothing for little ones. Like Bonpoint (for little girls especially), but for 1/10 the price.
Tea Collection! So sad our boys are out growing it, their stuff is fabulous.

I second Tea Collection. You can buy a “wardrobe” — several items that mix and match. I realized my baby wore mostly Tea Collection because it was so easy to dress her/change her when there were accidents or spit-up because everything matched.
Burt’s Bees Baby has a lot of good, affordable options if organic is important to you.
We shop at almost all of the same for our two boys! Especially Old Navy and H&M… adorable!
Primark has some great stuff too–basically like H&M.
