Before we know it, it’s going to be time to go to holiday parties. How is time moving at warp speed this year??? To avoid the last minute shopping trip (which inevitably leaves you will a closet full of items you only SORT of like because you just wanted something “new” to wear) I put together a bunch of gorgeous holiday party outfits from Nordstrom to help you plan ahead and think about what kind of look you want for whatever gathering you need to attend. From super fancy to my favorite fancy-casual blend, you’re sure to find something fab to add to your closet. CLICK ITEMS FOR LINKS!
Not Your Basic Black
- I love this mix of a cozy sweater and faux leather leggings (from Spanx- guaranteed to suck everything in!) with a giant statement earring.
- I am OBSESSED with this Milly dress– so classic and old school femme! Pair it with an awesome ankle-wrap sandal and bold red pedicure!
- I wore my black jumpsuit to death to holiday parties, and this one would look so awesome with a patterned heel and deep green moto jacket.
Champagne + Shimmer
- This gold lace long sleeve dress is EVERYTHING. Stay warm with a long wine colored wool coat and simple heels and earrings (big jewelry and busy shoes would be overkill with a dress like this!)
- This rose gold silk skirt would look incredible with a cropped sweater and fun sparkly studs. Kinda obsessed with this look, to be honest.
- There isn’t much I love better for a casual holiday party than a metallic top paired with jeans and killer heels! Top with a faux fur vest for texture (and warmth).

I’ve subscribed to Elements of Style for quite some time, but will be unsubscribing now because you are collaborating with Nordstrom, which carries Trump products. I cannot support the misogyny or corruption of the Trump family, and have resolved to boycott all retailers carrying Trump products as well as any blogs or service providers featuring those retailers. This is difficult for me because it means severing ties I have valued, but this is something I feel I must do. I wish you the best.
Yes I love this blog for the up to the minute design ideas. But as a working mom of 2 I am equally dependent upon these fashion posts to keep myself up to date, on trend (and hot! Because when I look great, I feel great but somehow when left to my own shopping devices I dial down the sexy and then wonder why I feel so boring when I look at my wardrobe!?) I love having complete looks I can use for inspiration to replicate on my own without having to put so much thought or time into shopping. Because I love looking put together but I really hate shopping. Thank you, Erin! Please keep posts like this coming!

weird…i’ve followed you for a few years and these outfits don’t look like you…weird
Such gorgeous choices, Erin! Actually, I’m almost wearing Outfit #1 right now ( sans the leopard and the earrings since it’s only 4pm Central but still… ) and that Milly Midi dress is going straight to my shopping cart :)
You’re giving me ideas… I’ve got two holiday parties and our anniversary all in the first week of December and nothing else so far. I’m dressing down (jeans and kimono jacket) for the second party, book club, and it’s all about the wine and talking. We’re a very opinionated group.
The first party is dressier with dinner and live jazz. Haven’t decided yet, but leaning towards slinky black pants, with black beaded sweater with white jacket…
Anniversary. The actual date we’ll have dinner in front of our fireplace. Probably jeans again, with a fisherman’s knit sweater in cream, much like the looks you featured on your Xmas photo post. Later, we’ll have dinner out at Teatro Zinzanni, with live performances of singing, trapeze, juggling, comedy; pretty much all at the same time! Haven’t figured out that look yet… but fun to think about getting dressed up a little.
I will be dreaming about that Milly Dress and a holiday party to go to all weekend long! :-)
