The blog had some hacking issues last week and so I’m trying to catch up on missed Friday fashion post AND a post for today – so here it is all in one! This outfit is a go-to for me (varying the sweater) and it just so happens we finished decorating the outside of our home this weekend and so I thought I’d show it off.
jacket // jeans // sweater // boots // bag // sunglasses // necklace
Here’s the house as it stands ready for the holidays- I kept it really simple with cedar garland and boxwood wreaths. House colors are Benjamin Moore White Dove and Sherwin Williams Mountain Road (shutters, door and barn)
I sewed this ribbon I had bought last year for our old house I had left over….. worked well with the new door color (Sherwin Williams Mountain Road). I sued suction cup hooks to hang these wreaths on the door ( examples here and here)
Our new exterior fixtures from Circa Lighting in copper and brass look particularly fetching.
We’ve got a LOT of landscaping to do next spring…. but here’s the whole place. Need a good copper weathervane for the barn.
So happy with how these lights came out against the green-grey of the barn/ garage!
Inside we’re keeping it just as simple (I bought 75 feet of cedar garland and used it ERRRRRYWHERE). Found this ribbon at Michaels and hung our old Elements by Erin Gates burlap and velvet stockings here (sold out in white, we have a few navy left here)
When we saw the house for the first time, Andrew’s first exclamation was “This is SUCH a good Christmas house”. By next year when we have all our furniture and hopefully COVID is in our past, we’ll have one HELL of a party.
I’ll finish up the family room and our trees this week and show you those as well :) Stay tuned.
Loving this- especially love the ribbons – stunning! They make such a difference. I always go to a huge garden center that has thousands of spools of ribbon to have special ribbons made for my Christmas decor. A bit of a splurge but I always say it’s totally worth it!
Beautiful decorations. The last photo reminded me to ask if you would do a post on good stair runners that are stylish yet durable enough for folks with dogs and kids.
I had one place in Newton tell me they do NOT recommend indoor/outdoor on stairs because it’s too thin and not durable enough. They recommend wool instead which is not stain-resistant. Yet another vendor (also in Newton) said the opposite. Oy.
Yes! Great post idea- at varying price points please.
Yes, Please!!!
He is right, it is a GREAT Christmas house. It’s beautiful. Ours is similar. White Dove, and I can’t remember my door/shutter color but it’s similar and one used a lot by Lewis Graeber (a southern architect). I have always decorated for Christmas in a very similar way, but with red burlap bows on the wreaths. Prob more color than you prefer, but I like it. The red isn’t too bright. Also, I do wreaths on all the windows as well as the double front doors. I do real ones on the doors Bc people come close to them and they smell so good. But I got 4 artificial wreaths on sale after Christmas a few years ago and I am so glad I did. No one can tell and it has saved me time and money! Enjoy your first Christmas in your new home. And like you, we are having a killer party when COVID is over and if our back yard pool/poolhouse/porch with fireplace project EVER ends!!
Classic, timeless, and stunning. Love it!
It is stunning…you can’t argue about god bones when house hunting…you scored! Everything looks wonderful (we are HUGE cupola fans…five…house, barn, boathouse, gazebo, she/he shed!) franki
Any tips for how to keep the garland from completely drying out after a few days?
Beautiful Erin! Thanks for sharing.🎄
Very classic, just like you! I went very simple this year. Just enough to make the rooms feel like Christmas. I do need more battery-operated twinkle lights.
