With Massachusetts extending the stay at home order through May 4th, I realized Easter will be a “just us” situation and that I need to start ordering some goodies for Henry’s basket (which I feel pressured to make extra good this year given the situation). And for those family and friends you may not be able to spend time with, I thought it would be nice to gather some easy ideas for creating grown up Easter baskets (admittedly female-oriented!) to send to brighten their day.
I won’t be doing my typical CVS/ Target dashes to get stuff (trying hard to not go anywhere but home and my office – alone). Lots of sites are offering discounts and most free shipping, so you can go beyond the cheap plastic eggs (hello, these dinosaur ones I found are going to be a hit with Henry) and basic jelly beans. Also, that little basket bag is the CUTEST stand in Easter basket EVER.
And for grown ups- everyone gets hand soap, sanitizer and hand cream!!!!! :) Oh, and wine if you are able to imbibe and some candy to go with it. All bets are off during a quarantine! Also Terrain has some beautiful fresh flowers, potted plants and flowering branches that would make a great simple “I miss you” gift!
Hope everyone is hanging in there. Let me know what you might want to see on Fashion Friday– can’t really post too much more about sweatpants but also don’t want to be flippant about the situation here. Leave a comment!
In the south, where everything is monogrammed, the last name always goes in the middle.
I always love reading your posts–these are some fun ideas. My kids get a new swimsuit, summer shoes (Natives) and goggles in their Easter baskets, although swim team this year is uncertain. :( Plus candy, of course! For Fashion Friday, I second the caftan idea. Maybe also some longer shorts that are still fashionable.
Ooh yes, caftans! I’m due in August and all I want to wear once it gets hot is maxi dresses and caftans.
For Fashion Friday I agree with other comments on slippers, robes, jammies and more content for your more “mature” readers. I also liked the comment someone made about listing companies doing great work right now that we can support with online orders. Not so much charities, but companies donating sales to a good, current causes.
Hi! Loved this post. Would you be able to do a roundup of storage options? Dining room china cabinet and maybe console/sofa tables? I’d love to purchase a new piece as I re-organize my home during all this!
Thanks for posting things that are close to normal as possible. I know, and I’m guessing others as well, that I love any opportunity to focus on something lighter, happier and prettier these days. We all need some mental escape during this so thanks for providing some.
Hi Erin, love the Easter basket ideas, especially the hand towel and potted lily of the valley! What’s the best way to contact you with a question? I tried to email you a few days ago but don’t think you received it. Thanks
how about alternating FF with Well-being wednesdays (with regular blog content on Friday) or something like that? I’m a clinical psychologist so happy to help with content if you want – just email me.
Cute face masks! I also love the suggestion about cloth paper products.
Thank our stars you’al are doing “posts”…love your creations. Guess I’m trying “pretty” (eclectic) tablesettings to add some spice to our life…changing (ex-) pillows, throws, * sigh* franki
Please do a post on how to look pulled together when wearing jeans. I’m so tired of jeans and sweaters!
I love your fashion Friday posts! They are such a welcome diversion right now! Spring outfits with pieces that work together would be so great. Take care!
Wonderful! Perhaps a Fashion Friday on companies that are doing good work during this time? So if we are spending money it’s going to socially conscious companies? Just a thought. Thanks for your posts- so appreciated during this time.
Work from home outfits that are comfortable and still professional for all the video conferencing.
Fashion Fridays give us something to dream of when we can all leave the house one day and dress up!
Hi Erin,
Thank you for all the wonderful gift ideas. I’m having difficulty with the link to the bunny basket with navy blue gingham trim, second from bottom left. I click on the image and am not being directed to the vendor. Will you please take a look so that I may purchase it? Thank you.
Sorry here it is! https://rstyle.me/+KJB6Vb9691wzRRfkwM6I1A
Thank you Erin, My Easter will be me, myself and I lol.
For Fashion Friday how about a round-up of jean styles? I simply cannot get on board with the high waist styles yet I don’t want to look like I am clinging to the past. Mid rise are acceptable but I have yet to meet a recent jean style I am in love with.
Thank you for your very welcome respites, always love your posts!
Slippers! And comfy but cute lingerie so you still feel sassy under the sweatpants!
I’m 58, approaching 59 and love your style and consistently read your blog. I would love to see a fashion post geared toward the “mature”woman.
I would love to see chic ways to wear some Dudley Stephens for spring and summer. Thanks to you I made my first purchase. I would love to see looks with the short sleeve or bateau neck.
I always appreciate your posts on beauty products. I find my routine has pivoted to skin and nail care while my makeup is collecting dust.
Question about deliveries – do you quarantine your packages for a day or clean them before opening -trying to be as safe as possible. Also – looking for a wide brim summer hat to keep my skin healthy this summer.
I do not. I sometimes spray Lysol on the packages and let it sit for a bit, then unpack them and get rid of packing immediately and then when done wash my hands thoroughly.
I believe the advice is to quarantine for 3 days. Though in New Zealand where I am we’re barely allowed any home deliveries (courier services are limited to essential services) so that problem doesn’t even exist! So everyone is being forced to be as creative as possible with what they’ve got in the house…
Suggestions for Fashion Friday:
1) time to revisit trench coat options. I know you have done this before but it was sometime ago
2) Kaftans! Inexpensive to $$$. Have you seen #Kaftan challenge? Cocktails and kaftans are popular get together s in the south…
Thank you. Stay safe. Stay sane.
Hi Erin! I would love to see a post about Spring handbags. It’s something we all use and I desperately need an update. I’m having trouble picking one this season.
Thank you for continuing to post! It’s a welcome distraction while I oversee home school! Not a fashion Friday, but I would so appreciate a round up of every day cloth napkins and dish towels. Our paper towel and paper napkin situation is grim and this is forcing a switch that should have happened a long time ago. Also need microfiber towels to clean bathrooms, etc. since our cleaning service closed down for the foreseeable future. Any suggestions?
