Holiday season is extra crazy this year and Andrew and I decided we really needed a little time just the two of us to catch our breath and enjoy the season a bit. And since we are now super-lame suburban parents that go to bed at 9pm every night, we decided to take last Friday off work and spend the day in “the city” Christmas shopping, followed by dinner and an evening at the Four Seasons Boston (which is the MOST festive holiday hotel in the city I found out!) A few months ago Banana Republic asked me to participate in a holiday partnership which focuses on a person who has been special to us this year and treat them (and myself) to a little festive clothing and holiday cheer. Since it’s been an especially trying year for us, Andrew was the obvious choice (and it also helps that he wears A LOT of Banana Republic and makes a good model for them!) Today everything is 40% off too, so if you see something you like, now’s the time to snap it up.
While shopping, we stopped for lunch at Aquitaine in the South End, and had a really lovely meal and cocktail in a sunny window. I’m wearing this turtleneck sweater and faux fur scarf with jeans and booties, which felt warm but festive.
I pulled together a little day/ night look based on the same sweater and scarf, but adding in a fun party-ready skirt, heels and earrings.
sweater (similar) // scarf // jeans (similar) // booties (my own, similar) // sunglasses
same as above but add this: skirt // heels // earrings
After we were done shopping we changed and went to the bar at the hotel for a drink before dinner which was SO festive and cheerful. I chose a “casual tuxedo” look (bet you didn’t think that was a thing!). When it’s cold out, I kind of hate wearing dresses and showing my arms, but I still want to be dressed up- and this look fit the bill perfectly. Andrew got to rock an awesome olive velvet blazer with jeans and a white shirt, which is such a great “dressed up/ dressed down” look for guys!
A bevy of trees and live jazz– not too shabby for a Friday night!
It was super dark in the hotel so pardon the less-than perfect pictures. :) This satin tuxedo blouse is a great length paired with fitted pants (like these sequin stripe tux pants!) And these heels are SO comfortable, even on the first wear!
The hotel had a special “Holly Bar” set up int he lobby which is excellent Instagram bait. And also husband bait.

We had such a lovely day off and I think we are going to now make this an annual tradition!
