There was a resounding request for some comfy outfits that AREN’T sweatsuits or workout leggings, because let’s face it- aren’t we all sick of that? I am, at least. To be honest, I have never been a big sweatsuit outside the house person. Actually, I’m pretty sure in my adult life I have never worn sweatpants outside the house. And unless I’m working out that day and it’s a weekend, I don’t wear athletic stuff either. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I just don’t feel myself that way. I find skinny jeans comfortable. Call me crazy, it’s fine.
I think with COVID turning into a version of A never-ending snowday, we all may be getting a little sick of athleisure. But we still want to be comfy because we are working from home or working in less formal environments. So here are seven outfits, all relatively comfy in my opinion, but polished too. Showing a littel effort helps your mood and productivity, so let’s sideline those sweats for a bit and get dressed.

Outfit 1: A cute puffy sleeve tee, jeans made for cold days, a cropped puffy coat, sneakers with some detail and big earrings. DONE and DONE.
Outfit 2: Pull on faux leather pants have polish but are essentially just leggings, a cute cozy sweater, slippers disguised as loafers and some cute accecssories and you can Zoom with style.
Outfit 3: I loooooove this cool car coat situation paired with a simple white tee (my fave, comes in tall length!) and the perfect skinny jean (just bought these, wearing now and LOVE- linked HERE) and again slippers disguised as mules— fashionable and yet SUPER comfy.
Outfit 4: These flared pants are knit, so pajama in feel but not look- paired with a turtleneck sweater, Ugg boots with a little wedge and a cute faux fur vest and you’re off and running.
Outfit 5: This shirt is performance- stretchy and you can wash/dry without worry, paired with looser boyfriend jeans, cute flats and some classic jewelry it’s a look that will never look dated.
Outfit 6: You know I love a “fancy sweatshirt”- this one is awesome- wear it with white jeans (sure, you can wear them), these cool loafers made from vintage rugs and a funky statement necklace.
Outfit 7: These ARE sweatpants, but a sneaky kind! :) Paired with a denim shirt, fun earrings and bracelets and sneakers with a tiger print tongue and no one will be the wiser.
I find that looking put together in athletic wear costs a FORTUNE! I’d rather spend my money on real clothes. I will say it’s really hard to find real shoes. I miss being able to find chunky loafers and anything else low heel closed toe. Flat loafers and chunky sneakers look really bad on me. Had I known how obsolete they would become I would have held onto them longer.
Love your fashion posts. I would especially appreciate a post about how to wear girlfriend/boyfriend jeans that are looser and higher waisted—I cannot figure out shoes that don’t look ridiculous with these pants. Also can’t figure out the length these pants are supposed to be. Please advise.
These are all so great looking. I think I need to pick at least one day a week to get out of my athletic gear/sweats and make an effort, even if just for myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
This was such a fun (and honestly, inspirational) post!
I took off my joggers and sweatshirt, shopped my closet and put together a version of No. 3 to go out to dinner Saturday night. My honey was so impressed that he complimented me several times so thank you!!!
Well I must be in the minority here but my gal pals and I cannot imagine going back to our old way of dressing when we used to leave the house. We are just so darned comfortable in our leggings and long sweaters (or loungewear!) that buttons, zippers and blouses now sound so restrictive! And all that time we spent applying makeup seems a bit silly to us now. Our husbands look great with fresh clean faces so we’re ready to lose some of that war paint when the world re-opens!
Amen. I don’t know if I can go back to buttons…the wide pants look I can get behind for sure!
These are great outfits! That swing coat! It is stunning. I love my Birdie slippers, with tassels too.
The Loft sweats look comfy, but the flare makes them sneaky (as you said).
I love this! I never wear sweats outside the house either, but these days I never leave the house!!! Gah! So after the New Year hit, I made a conscious choice to wear my jeans and nicer sweaters, even if I don’t go out. It is surprising how much better I feel just doing that.
All of those are great looking – I’m carrying my Covid 19 around my middle, unfortunately, but I still think it’s a good idea to not wear sad clothes all the time. I teach horse back riding lessons several days a week, so breeches and boots are the norm, but they’re SO unforgiving – they’re almost as depressing as sweat pants – thank goodness for long jackets. I invested in good looking, age appropriate yoga pants and a couple of non-tshirt tops, for the house, and it’s already making a difference. Getting dressed is a good mental health/well being exercise, for sure.
Oh and Artemis shoes make almost any outfit better! Love those!
Thanks for putting these fun outfits together- basically basics with a flair! It is inspiring me to look at my closet with different eyes. Please do this again!
Love them all! I do wear some version of most of these. Will be pinning this post.
This post is very chic! I have never worn sweatpants either! I enjoyed your many choices and these choices are basically how I dress anyway! I wear earrings everyday and I also wear make-up too!! I recently wore my Ruby and Diamond earrings to the grocery store too!!!
As someone who has never liked sweatpants and can only hope for the end of the ripped jeans look, I’m interested in your nod to long length jeans. I struggle to find pants long enough despite not being overly tall by today’s standards. (32″ inseam) How about a posting for us long legged ladies? Help us look like we’re put together instead of headed for a flood.
Amen to your comment…so frustrated with jeans that are suitable for floods, but especially unsuitable for winter: constant cold ankles!
Loved this post! So much to choose from.

I love this post! I’m a lot like you – I don’t feel myself in sweats or athleisure. I save my athleisure for working out or on the weekends when I’m active all day with my toddler. But I still get dressed for work, make-up and everything, because I feel more productive and am on video all day long.
