When I was getting dressed this morning the forecast was really confusing- sunny and nice but also really windy which makes it feel cold. So I ended up in white ankle jeans but topped with a beige turtleneck sweater and pale loafers. Eliza in my office said I was dressed like Diane Keaton in “Something’s Gotta Give”, which was basically the highest compliment EVER because my life goal is to become a middle aged woman in a Nancy Meyers movie, living in cashmere in the summer and drinking white wine at the beach while discussing my existential emotional crises. I mean, let’s be honest here.
Ok, back on the topic- the weather this time of year can be super unpredictable and hard to dress for. It’s ALL about layers and the dichotomy of spring and fall looks blended into one. Sweaters can TOTALLY be worn with shorts in my book, and it’s the ONLY time of year when closed toed mules are the perfect footwear. So here are a bunch of outfits that work for those up and down temperature days!
I love a good beachy sweater… and long sleeve dresses! Also– always, always have a denim jacket on hand in the spring! A must!
Those are some great Spring Summer Outfit ideas and I am totally buying that denim shirt for myself. Loved your listing!

Erin. I’m a long-time reader who cringed when I saw you refer to the “schizophrenic” weather in your IG stories and was disappointed to see you use it again in the professional context of your blog. If you don’t use the word “retarded” why use “schizophrenic”? Intellectual disability and mental illness are both debilitating, not a choice, and highly stigmatized. That a thoughtful, compassionate writer like yourself doesn’t second guess using it publicly suggests how far we have to go. Please edit this post and reflect on further usage.
Apologies, I did not mean to offend. And will edit now and make sure to reconsider any further usage.
Thanks, Erin. Really appreciate it.
Thank you for saying this! I was coming to comment on the same point. I found the use of the word jarring and extremely off putting.
Erin, I am a long time follower of your blog and I have always admired your strong voice that comes through loud and clear in your beautiful and authentic writing style. It is personally painful for me and so many others to encounter the casual misuse of a medical term for a serious mental illness that is so highly stigmatized.
Its so darn hot here right now I can’t even think about a sweater!

Thank you Erin! I am a southern transplant in New Jersey and really needed this post today! So tired of winter clothes. Thank you for reimagining spring wardrobe for us and making it fresh and fun :)
Love this post. My favorite movie ever!
Feeling in a fashion rut lately – love all these looks. Thanks for the inspiration!
I can see me in my version of many of those looks. My version being attentive to my size and shape and stage of life. Diane Keaton on the beach makes perfect sense to me …. except I’d have her keep the young stud doctor and dump the womanizer. But that’s just me.
As I spend my MDW Friday at work I am referencing the past several months of Fashion Friday posts and finding so many things now on sale for the holiday weekend! Thank you EOS for being my personal stylists and fashion inspiration!
Love this post!
