(not how I look when I sleep)
I really want to be the kind of woman that sleeps in pretty pajamas. I really do. But the past couple years it’s more of a “old promotional t-shirt and saggy pajama pants or briefs” kinda look I’ve been rocking. I do have a couple decent pairs of pajamas (the shorts version of #2 and #4 below) which I like and do wear, but I need to get my pajama act more together. I can’t do anything overtly sexy/strappy because you know, I need to be comfy and not have body parts popping out when I roll over, nor made of un-washable or un-breathable material (always hot when I sleep, I need the room to be like, see-your-breath cold) nor some sort of romper situation that is, while cute, impossible if you get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. It’s no wonder I tend to sleep in hideous garbage!
So I did a round-up of pretty but PRACTICAL pajamas to motivate me in the sleepwear category. What do you guys sleep in?
1. // 2. (LOVE this brand) // 3. // 4. // 5. // 6. // 7. (also avail in pull pajamas) // 8. // 9. // 10. // 11. // 12. // 13. (on sale) // 14. // 15.
Looking for a chenille robe (finally pitched mine after 15 years!! and lots of tears!!) and a wool robe…..any thoughts?
Check out Masion Du Soir beautiful and soft!
Let’s check polish brand – Lunaby (dot com)!
I have had good luck finding nice pajamas at Lord and Taylor and also Anne Selke.
Traditional pj’s are adorable, for lounging. Alas, I can’t stand it when pant legs bunch up around your knees in the night. So, I am a complete jogger convert. They come in cute separates and sets, of which I have both. Love.
A couple of years ago I found a chemise-style nightgown at TJ Maxx, Midnight by Carole Hochman. It is a modal cotton. I then got a couple of similar ones by her at Amazon because I loved the first one so much. I just checked out her current styles (available at Nordstrom) and I’m not loving them, but overall I can’t say enough about the comfort:sexy ratio. (As in, I’ve never felt so sexy in something so comfortable. I’m a reformed ratty t-shirt and boxer sleeper myself.)
These. They’re flattering, breathable,
Soft and wash so well that I cant tell which pair is 2 yrs old and which is new

I second this! Purchased during the anni sale and they are amazingly soft and wash so well. Want to buy in every color.
I had been doing the sweats and t-shirt combo for too long and finally invested in some pajamas that would be just as comfortable. I highly recommend these from Gap (there are matching pants — just order one size down). They are exactly like the more expensive Eberjay and look and feel amazing and machine washable.

Also, the Roller Rabbit totally worth the splurge. Super soft and look amazing even after to wash and wear them a million times.
I love anything from Soma. They don’t shrink and are so soft and comfy!
Bedhead Pajamas all the way. Super cute fabrics and you can almost always find coupons available online. They are pricey but worth it. Lots of patterns themed around vintage fabrics and Paris. I love the woven cotton (poplin, sateen, voile) but the stretchy ones are also super cute. https://www.bedheadpjs.com
I agree with this! I have a wonderful pair of pink striped cotton pjs from Bedhead – they are awesome!
You have to look carefully at the fabric content of a lot of pajamas – they often are not 100 percent cotton, which is all I can stand to wear!
Victoria’s Secret cotton pjs (not flannel) are very very light (almost sheer), so if you are looking for a very lightweight pair of long sleeve pajamas they are a good bet.
My favorite winter pajamas are a pair of LLBean DOG TOILE flannels – they are adorable!!
Yep you described me to a T. Hideous garbage pretty much sums it up, but comfy!
I swear by Eberjay and Wildfox, I think they make the coziest sleep sets, and although they are a splurge, totally worth it in my opinion!
I, too, am a hot sleeper and feel claustrophobic in pants or any type of sleeve. My current favorite sleepwear is Barefoot Dreams’ Luxe Ribbed Jersey Chemise. It is super-soft, lightweight, and short, but covers my rear. For whatever reason, during the day, I stay cold. So for much of the year, as soon as I wake up, I reach for my Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Lounger bathroom. It zips! So even though I feel a bit like a granny, it keeps me very warm and doesn’t drape open like a wrap-around.
Having something pretty to sleep in is a little luxury that is so worth it! I love Salua Lingerie –
she has a shop in Seattle that is amazing and full of goodies, and also has an online shop https://salualingerie.com/ . Bonus points for supporting a female-owned small business!
ahh! my pajama setup is my secret shame! I also sleep hot and need a tank top and shorts – absolutely no sleeves! but live in the midwest so most of the year i can’t lounge around in that for Netflix and Chill time. what i’ve always wanted is a set that includes coordinated tank/shorts/lounge pants/lounge hoody (and doesn’t cost a million dollars). and has some kind of comfy yet supportive built in bra in case i need to open the door for sushi delivery or something.
i need to follow the advice of the poster who purged the crappy pajamas!
Yes!!! Why don’t all pajamas come with built in bras!! My doctor insists that sleeping in a bra is the best way to keep everything where it’s supposed to be.
Check out This is J. They make the cutest bamboo pajamas for women that are super breathable and comfortable.
I was the same – sleeping in mismatched sweats & tshirt – until last year when I bought Soma pajamas. They’re a little pricey but are frequently on sale. I love them! So comfy and their Cool Nights type are nice and cool. I have a teenage boy so it makes finding appropriate pjs extra challenging – I don’t want to traumatize him by wearing something that shows too much!
I second this! Soma pajamas ( and bras, for that matter) are so comfortable and well-made.
I can’t recommend Lake pajamas enough! Their maternity/nursing nightgown has been the single best purchase of my entire (now 41 weeks and 2 days) pregnancy.
I love Eberjay, but hate the recommended “hand wash”! I’m lazy most of the time and machine wash and I think it’s starting to pill from this. :(
Agreed that eberjey is so soft (and I machine wash mine too)! I recently got a few ultra-soft jogger pants/sets (from Eberjey, PJ Salvage, Honeydew, Beyond Yoga) on Shopbop – they’re so comfortable and I can answer the door in them without feeling embarrassed. Felt so so good to upgrade for the first time ever.
My Eberjeys felt like a well-deserved splurge… until I machine washed them. After a few times through they were tired and nowhere near as luxurious. Only worth it if you’re willing to hand wash all the time!
No sets for me. I buy cotton and in winter flannel men’s pajama bottoms from GAP. Why men’s? Pockets. Why they don’t put pockets in women’s pj’s is a mystery to me. They also have nice looking lounging joggers as well. Then I buy long sleeves t’s or waffle knit tops . Love that GAP pj’s retain their shape somewhat. Had a cotton pair from PJ Salvage that were a wrinkled mess.
I have a couple of pairs of pajamas from Lunya (the company that does the washable silk you linked to) and their non-silk pjs are the softest, most comfortable things I’ve ever bought).
For fall and winter I love sets like this, but for summer I stocked up on these from Target that were a recommendation on MFAMB. Love.

I’m obsessed with the dreamy cotton pants from JCrew. I have them in four colors! plus they come in lengths!
I’ve found my favorite at Garnet Hill. Their organic cotton asian wrap pjs are comfy, well made and come in colorful patterns.
Me Too Ladies!!!
Silk is too hot, woven cotton doesn’t give, and I can’t wear long sleeves or pants in bed.
Me too!
ME TOO! Love them.
I swear by Gillian O’Malley two piece sleep sets (at Target). Soft and stretchy, they’re cute for lounging around the house and sleeping.
I finally tossed out all of my ugly pjs. Don’t know why it took me so long. Now, I routinely sort and purge and update with new ones. Because I decided I was worth it.
Same!!! I have really expensive PJs from Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom but I always, always reach for the Gillian O’Malleys first. They are soooo soft and comfortable and come in a variety of styles to mix and match each season. I hope they never discontinue them.
Second this!
Ditto!
Third this! Gillian O’Malley PJ’s rock and so cheap!!
