Someone comment on my Instagram yesterday that they and their friends always argue about wearing white jeans after labor day. I am firmly in CAMP YES YOU CAN, certainly until it gets insanely cold/ snow is on the ground. If you live somewhere where it never gets super cold, I say white denim is a year round staple! If you can find some good bone/ off white denim- even better (although it’s hard to source!) But make sure the white denim you are wearing in the fall is THICK and not that lightweight/ stretchy thin denim- that WILL look bad during the colder months.
So I pulled together some outfits showcasing how you can wear white denim in the fall!
I’m obsessed with this first fairisle sweater. I also own and love the navy fleece turtleneck and will wear to death this fall (am ordering these earrings NOW to go with it!)
I just got the #10 sneakers and they are SUCH a good fall color (and suede!) Have ordered #6 and am eyeing #5!
I got #9, the faux suede top and it’s pretty adorable.
#6 is an ivory corduroy- so while not denim, basically the fall version of white denim! Also, #10 is on it’s way to me now :)
Clarification questions- what are examples of white jeans that are too thin or stretchy for fall/winter?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just bought two pair of white jeans and was trying to figure out how best to work them into fall outfits! 🤗
PS – Everlane has a nice bone skinny denim – haven’t ordered them yet so don’t know quality or fit…
I have those m gemi leopard mocs…..so good….
Wow, Kathleen. How lucky are you to be living in such a gorgeous part of the planet! We just spent a couple days in Varenna as part of an anniversary trip. Beautiful place.
I always love your fashion posts! I have even purchased a couple things based off of them. My problem is, I am short and short waisted, and curvy to boot. Not off the rack at all. This high rise trend just doesn’t work at all for me. I know you aren’t a clothing procurement service, but maybe you wouldn’t mind posting some cute things for those of us height challenged! Thank you for all you do.
I too have fashion challenges. I am not overweight but I too am short waisted, vertically challenged , busty and curvy. I too love all that you post with regard to fashion. But there are a lot of looks that I see and think- there is no way in hell I could ever pull that off!! As a woman who has turned 50 I am trying to embrace who and what I am. It’s not that I shy away from risk- I just purchased a pair of Doc Martens that look like “dragon skin” due to the pattern on the leather and the iridescence….can’t wait to wear them!! Perhaps in the future you could post some fashion for those of us that are a little more curvy and a little more vertically challenged. Not putting down anything you post as you always post great fashions and design. Just a little suggestion to post something for those of us that don’t fit the usual mold!
Love all of the looks! Fall is my favorite season and all of these would work well in my climate.
New Fashion Friday request – please do a post on cute comfort shoes that would feet a wider foot! I love all of your suggestions, but I can never wear any of them. I need a shoe with some support, so even if they are wide, or fit, there’s no support. Thanks in advance!
So…classy! Think winter white for colder weather…
Yes to white denim after Labor Day! Everlane has a really sharp bone denim – excellent quality.
Ciao from Italy…. Lake Como… I discovered your site when I lived in New York… been a fan for years… love your work and fashion sense and best of all, when you pose for fashion you smile and keep it all real! Congrats on all your great work over the years, you continue to inspire… headed back to my home in Los Angeles… will be rocking the white jeans thank you very much! Ciao! and thanks for making the world a more beautiful place!
Cali here. White has been year-round so long that I haven’t heard it questioned in over a decade.
Thank you for setting the record straight, Erin! My favorite pair of jeans just happen to be white so I am thrilled to be in your camp!
J. McLaughlin’s Lexi jeans (THE best) come in a color called “egret white” that is beautiful. I live in Phoenix, AZ and wear white all year round. And all-white winter outfits are the best!
I so agree… life is too short to live by our grandmas rules! Some of the most chic fall outfits revolve around white demin and gorgeous sweaters!!! Love it!
