FINALLY I can show you guys Henry’s big boy room!!!! It took me a long time to get this right, but I really think I did. Every time I walk in here I really feel like it’s such a reflection of Henry and his happy, sweet, wonderful little personality! And he loves it too, which is the BEST. The biggest initial decision in this room was the wallpaper- I had long been obsessed with this Sister Parish print, but I had seen it used so many times online, I didn’t want to repeat what other designers had already done. So when I came across this Hinson paper, a VINYL grasscloth no less, I was SOLD. It is amazing. Insanely durable, rich without being dark, and so, so happy! It’s the perfect backdrop for the room. The Heriz rug I found at Brimfield Antique show and I love the old school vibe it brings to the room (also it hides EVERYTHING). Try searching Etsy for a similar one.
Henry loves cars so I knew I wanted to use the Leslee Mitchell prints that you’ve probably seen around (actually, you can buy them framed on OKL today for 20% off). Red and blue are his favorite colors, so this worked out really well. I framed them in Framebridge burl frames because I was hoping to use a burl dresser in here as well (which you’ll see in a bit). These side tables are a favorite, as they offer up great concealed toy storage but also add texture and warmth to the room. AND are a great height for daybeds. Speaking of, I wanted a daybed because I felt like it would be so cozy for Henry and us to read together in at night (and give him sleepover space with the pull out trundle underneath- SOMEDAY). We had this one made by LivenUp Designs in this skinny blue and white Kravet stripe, which works great here, but also could work in a guest room down the road if needed. It IS very hard to make the bed, you guys were right, but I still feel like it was the right choice. He’s so cozy in it and loves to pull out the trundle and jump on it like Spiderman from the bed.
The sconces were already wired so we just replaced them with these swing arms and had custom shades made in the same fabric as the roman shades (by Peter Fasano). I picked this fabric because Henry LOVES art class, so it’s a little homage to that (and also, I just plain love it!) The bed bolsters are in solid Kravet fabrics and the lumbar pillow is in a John Robshaw fabric with a leather cording from Samuel and Sons. Bedding is from PB Kids.
This room is literally the nicest room in our house guys. I admit I went a little bonkers. The chest was in our living room but I found a new antique for that spot so up here it went – it’s from Madegoods. I had Stephanie Henderson do this commissioned painting for the room (because every three year old needs commissioned art work, right? OMG.) But it looks a little like Captain America’s shield so Henry LOVES it. I also had my friend Stacey from Dunes & Duchess make this custom lamp for him (it’s a shorter version of their standard lamp and it came out awesome). I had originally toyed with doing a red spindle bed for Henry’s room, and this lamp gives me that look on a smaller scale). The “H” I found at an antique shop :) The toy basket is Serena & Lily.
In this corner I have the Jonathan Adler acrylic shelves from Henry’s nursery (I got a lot of grief for using this in his nursery because of the glass shelves and I am happy to report not once has he tried to climb it or hit the shelves, and also yes, it is bolted to the wall). The skateboard was made by my older brother for Henry for Christmas last year- while he’s too young to ride it, it matches PERFECTLY and is such a cute decor item until he’s a little bigger with better balance. This chair is borrowed from our living room, I still have not found the perfect leather chair for the corner, so this is a stand in for now, but we actually left it in there after the shoot because it looks so cute and we actually sit in it in this room, where as in the living room it’s just… another chair no one sits in. :) The pillow was made for Henry when he was born by Cheeky Monkey Home– the reverse side has his name and birth date, weight, length and time stitched on it (these are now are a go-to baby gift for me!)
My happy munchkin (complete with a chin scrape from the playground).
I couldn’t forget the closet! :) I had originally wanted to do Henry’s room in the horizontal Closet Stripe by Farrow & Ball, but another designer actually messaged me when she saw on instagram that I was considering it and said she had installed it in a room and it made everyone so dizzy they ripped it out like a week later! So I skipped that, and instead decided to do this cute Ralph Lauren stripe in the closet (it reminds me of men’s dress shirts!) I since have added a second rod on this side (the other side it chock full of my off-season clothes since this closet is so big and Henry’s clothes are so small!) The faux roman valance has a Schumacher trim on it that I love, and the ceiling light is Visual Comfort, and one I have been wanting to use for a while!
It’s so fun to look back at ALL the iterations this room has had! Originally it was our master bedroom (as seen in book 1):
Then it was our guest room after we built our master suite and had Henry (as seen in book 2):
It’s funny how many versions of rooms I’ve had in my house in the six years we’ve been in it!
We also gave our basement playroom a little makeover. We ripped out the bar since, let’s face it, it took up tons of room and served no purpose now that it was a playroom. We needed to re-wallpaper and I found this amazing paper for a client’s beach house and just HAD to use it for Henry somewhere. I also really wanted to use this rug from my collection with Momeni (on sale today)– so it worked out great!
Orange pillows are mine (available here, although NOT indoor/outdoor as shown on Wayfair?!) . Blue stripe pillows are sold out.
I mean, look at this paper– it’s toile but it has ALL of Henry’s favorite things- dinosaurs, trains, sharks, cranes, cars, planes, rocket ships, dragons, castles, bears…. I swear I see something new every time I look at it!

I hope you guys liked the reveal!!! :)
Hi Erin! I have been following your blog since before Henry was born! I remember seeing all of your different uses of this room and love how you have decorated it for little Henry! I too would like to get a daybed for my daughter and have looked into this company for its production. When are you sitting upright on the bed, where does the backrest land on your back, and do you find that a comfortable spot? Thank you!
Henry’s room is gorgeous. It seems like you’ve been in your home longer than 6 years. So many life changes.
This room is fabulous, Erin! I love the blend of old and new and using things that are meaningful to Henry. I appreciate the details you are always willing to share! Keep up the good work!
Perfect from floor to ceiling! Fun for a kiddo, but won’t feel too young when he is a tween! And that cute whale tie hanging in the closet?! :)
That toile paper in the basement is the best! My boys would have fallen asleep at night dreamily tracing their fingers over all those designs. Absolutely dreamy. It is probably a good thing my youngest is nearly 14!
It looks amazing :) so glad I could give you the closet stripe feedback and so glad Donghia came out with this paper! I LOVE it all!
Please tell me about the fire station- I love it.
Wow, this is just perfect! Your love for Henry is totally evident in all the layers of design and detail. What an awesome room. I especially love the stripes in the closet, and I am totally copying the car pictures for my son’s eventual big boy room. Love the picture of Henry too, what a sweet and special little guy he is.
Also, that wallpaper in the basement playroom is phenomenal.
This room is absolutely amazing! I also love that you have a sense of humor about it-custom art, custom lamp-what very three year old needs 😂. It’s so layered and will grow with him through the years.
I also want to say how I love that you have stayed true to yourself and your own voice. It’s refreshing in this current “influencer” world!
Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous! Thank you for sharing sources and your process. As a Momma who loves creating space for my littles, this is so interesting and inspiring!
Hi! Love everything! Where are the fire station and train set with table from? Thanks!!
Perfection!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
This really is the most darling room, and you provided such great ideas. TrulyKri made my day !
PERFECTION!!! All of it!!! Fantastic job — you have outdone yourself once again, Erin!! Now you have to write another book so you can include these pics!
I mean… this is perfection! ALL of the feels 😍. My three year old daughter also has a daybed, and we let her sleep on the trundle each night. It keeps her closer to the ground if she were to fall, AND I don’t have to make the bed much 😜.
A lot of brilliant ideas in one room. Vinyl wallpaper! Trundle bed! Busy rug that hides everything! That bullseye painting (ala Captain America)! So many good things.
Worth the wait.
Pure perfection!!!!!!!! Beautiful job!
LOVE this room! It is perfection all around. Could you please share the source for where you got the gold floor lamp? I have been hunting for one just like that. Thank you!
It’s actually an antique I swiped from my parent’s barn of goodies… LOL. But I think Circa makes one like it! Look for “pharmacy floor lamp”
Erin! It looks fantastic! I just adore the room and Henry is such a cutie!I am so happy to see you still have the elephant pillow. Thank you so much for the mention!
His room is so sweet!
absolutely love it top to bottom
That room is so sweet, and you clearly poured so much love into each detail!
… the dinosaur on the train table… perfect.
Beautiful post of photos and stellar design!! Thanks for sharing
You are so talented!! I love Henry’s bedroom – so many sweet unique touches and such a classic l, cool vibe. Thanks for sharing with us 😊
It is PERFECT!!!!
Perfection!!! What a lucky little boy.
Wow! Well done, Henry’s room looks amazing!! I’ve been excited to see the reveal after the teasers on Instagram and it was even better than I imagined
Love!!! Would love to see a girls version that hits the same notes – rich and detailed and happy and playful but mature enough to grow into.
I’m always amazed by people who have beautifully styled kids’ shelving. Any open shelving with kid stuff in my house looks like a battleground no matter what I do!
Love, love, love!
You found the perfect balance of layering in detail, without the room being busy! My favorite photo is the one with Henry in the chair – he looks so happy to be in his Big Boy room.
I mean, dead!!! Its so so beautiful! I anticipated this reveal for a while having just done my 3 year old son’s room in a blue and red americana theme. I knew you would knock it out of the park and you did – amazing job! I want that room for myself ;-)
Looks amazing and love the day bed! What color white is your paint trim?
Gah! It’s so good I can’t even stand it. Lucky, lucky Henry!
Love! A happy, cozy space.
Henry’s room is gorgeous! I have the toile wallpaper en route right now in the cream color for a wall of my four year old’s room. Very glad to see you love it too!
Swoon! The perfect spot for a sweet little boy!
LOVE! It looks great- so charming – he’s a lucky boy! The wallpaper is fabulous- makes the room!
Another killer room! Not sure what is my favorite part of the room – love it all. The red lamp is such a great pop – I love the colors in the Stephanie Henderson print and the rug/daybed combo is perfection. The closet is also to die for!! xo
Perfect, I love it! Henry is a lucky little guy!
