So here is a life lesson for ya… NEVER SAY NEVER!
After completing my second book, I swore up and down that was IT for me. No more. As much as I like things in threes, no – I would not write a third.
Well, look at me now, eating my words as I announce that yes, I am officially writing a third Elements of Style book for Simon & Schuster. Before you get too excited, it’s gonna be a while. A few years to be exact. In agreeing to do one more, I wanted to give myself ample time to get it right, shoot all the projects I haven’t been able to over the past 2 years (COVID, baby, move, etc.) and also finish my own house. I can’t divulge too much, but I can tell you the focus will be on renovations – big and small. And no, I’m not sure what the spine will be yet – open to your ideas, of course!
Stay tuned as we progress through the book process once more, and in the meantime get caught up on books one and two ;)
Thank you for all your support with these books. They are such a labor of love and I’m still amazed at their success, thanks to you and the incredible team of people I have around me.
We all know your love for leopard, but if not that pattern how about a graphic spine with brown and black in it….One that would look good on everyone’s coffee table whether you love leopard or not.
So happy for you!
Antelope. The spine should be antelope.
malachite!
Plantation shutters always have a real look on the property with a selection of material varieties ranging from real wood, PVC to synthetic wood materials providing superior quality compared to other shutters and especially good when sourced from Australian Window Covering, Victoria.
leopard print spine……..duh!!!
Plaid: blue and black, gold lettering
I read your article, very informative and userinformatic info are mentioned. For Best interior designers in Dubai also have a look for the best interior design services. Keepit up bro to share more article like that. Thanks for sharing this ones.
Congratulations! I would love to see the pattern that was on your stair runner in last home. There are already leopard print covers out there.
Forget my earlier message. What. Was. I thinking?
Leopard. It must be leopard. ❤️
For the spine of your néw book I would do a plaid in a blue and black pattern
Congratulations! Loved your first two books and look forward to reading the third. I vote herringbone pattern for the spine!
Congratulations, Erin! Really enjoyed both your books. How about leopard print for the spine?
Congrats on book 3! Animal print or Faux Bois for the spine
Congratulations!!! I can’t to read #3!!!
I loved your last book, which helped me finish some of our rooms. I appreciate the lovely spine cover that looks lovely on the bookshelf. I’m so happy you are going to write another book!
FOR SURE…LEOPARD!!!!
Awesome news – I’ve loved your first two books!
Best news of the month! Congratulations 🎉
Another vote for leopard here! I thin whatever you do, it should coordinate well with your first book since that one did so well for styling. I’m really looking forward to reading it! Congrats!
Leopard print spine. So excited for your next book. You’re a brave woman.
The spine HAS to be animal print, right?! It would look so lovely next to the other two. Also, it’s pays tribute to your famous animal print stairs in your previous house!
So looking forward to the next book! I loved the last one and even used your main bath as inspiration for my remodeled bath this year.
Congrats on the new book! Maybe a Fall themed spine ?
Love your first too book, I’ve devoured them over and over again…..Soo excited about a third!!!
I feel like the third should have some emerald or Forrest green on the spine…like a grown up version if that makes any sense…but I also love what others are saying about leopard….there aren’t really any good books that have a leopard print cover…which is puzzling to say the least, anyway I’ll leave that decision in your expert hands… xx
Leopard print…you know you wanna!
So glad to hear it! Loved both your books and hope you include your own houses (the former one and this current one) in the new book. It’s your voice and your eye that makes your books so good!
Looking forward to the new book! Vote for leopard…or antelope.
Leopard!
Looking forward to the third book, the first two were great.
Putting my vote in for leopard. Cheetah would be okay too.
Erin:
I am so thrilled to hear about your third book. I used your first book as my design “bible” and inspiration for my staging company and purchased the second soon there after. Thank you and I look forward to purchasing the next one! I am in love with your style!
Leopard spine, for sure!
I had no doubts that you would write a third book! Animal print/leopard! It would look great with your other two books. I’m just sad it won’t be sooner, but you have a lot on your plate.
What a lovely surprise! Cannot wait for your new book. It will be the best one yet!
I like the Greek key idea but want to suggest using a compass star…especially if the book is a “map” for renovations. Less enthused about the leopard/cheetah idea… Regardless, I’m sure you’ll come up with a great idea! Good luck as you begin this new project!
This is great news! If I could pre-order now, I would! Well, you have the iconic b&w stripe, and the beloved blue&white toile. How about something in green? Sort of like the Scalamandre Raphael wallpaper? Or maybe something like your dining room wallpaper? Or a small block print? Whatever you decide will be wonderful!
I like your wallpaper background of the above picture for your third spine… and congrats!!! :)
The spine MUST be leopard, naturally!
I love the B&W stripe on the first book, partly because you can clearly see the gold lettering on the spine.
Maybe for book #3 a zebra stripe that mimics the cool ottoman you have?
2nd choice = Cheetah/Leopard (duh).
I KNEW it!!!!!! Congrats!!
Yep….Leopard
Yay!!! Great news – I love your books:-) I think the new cover should be leopard print!
Proud of you
Congratulations. Will be fun to watch along the journey. Shagreen spine?! Green shagreen, I know a girl ;)
Fantastic news! I enjoyed both of your books and they have been helpful guides for decorating our home. I too vote leopard for the spine :)
Maybe the cover can be an exterior shot of your new home since the other two books were interior shots for the cover! Maybe the spine can be a Greek Key design….
Oooh that would be a great design too! Hmmm…leopard or Greek Key?
Geometric Spine (building blocks or lines) for reno’s.
So excited!! I on and cherish your first to books!! Looking forard to a third!!
So exciting! Love your books-your voice on the pages and of course your style and advice is inspiring each time I crack them open.
Congratulations!!! For the spine, my vote is for a small star print that mimics the wallpaper in “Henry’s Big Boy Room Reveal”
Congratulations!!! and I love the idea below on leopard 🧡
Leopard! Congratulations. Can’t wait to read it.
Hey Erin.
I’d do a black and white stripe but offset from the first book so you’d have a broken stripe. (Make sense?)
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
My first thought was cheetah, but then I thought a more subdued leopard would be good. But I also like the idea of green Greek key someone else suggested.
Leopard all the way! Sooo excited for this new book!!!!
I mean, shouldn’t the spine be leopard????
So excited for this! What about a brick spine? So many colour options you could choose from. Whatever it is, I will display it proudly (after reading it of course!)
Where can I sign up for an advance copy? :)
Congrats! Ok, here are my ideas for the spine:
Another B&W stripe but switch it so the top starts with white. Cover would have to be totally different than the first one so it clearly looks like a different book when people go to buy it.
A chocolate brown? Pretty against blue sometimes but would have to be a shade that can look good lined up with the B&W.
My pick…a grasscloth white or black or another type of texture we don’t see a lot. Even a light blue grasscloth like the light blue in the toile. The gold lettering would really stand out.
Good luck!
Hooray for you!! Can’t wait to add it to the collection!
Congrats- very excited by this news! Agree with others that a leopard spine is obvious choice. My beloved and very wise grandmother ALWAYS said- “Never Say Never”. It’s been good advice to follow- so glad you are going for a third book!
Beyond excited and of course hoping for a book tour too!
Isn’t it obvious? It needs to be leopard. ;)
Leopard/cheetah 😍
HERE FOR IT! Congratulations!
Leopard or plaid!
Ohhh yes plaid would be good too.
Love this! I can’t wait! I’m also on the green patterned spine as well!
Erin, I’m looking forward to book three! You’ve got more talent than you give yourself credit for. As for spine, I think green and gold stripe. Congrrats!
So great! Congratulations! I vote for a green patterned spine! Green is my favorite!
Exciting, congratulations! I agree with leopard for the spine. If not, I always think of you when I see Greek key, so maybe a dark green Greek key.
The dark green Greek key, totally my vote too. Another winner spine for chic table decor.
IT’S HAPPENING!!!!! So excited to tag along on this journey with you!
Third spine – Leopard!
yup, exactly my instant response
yep yep, I came to say LEOPARD too, it will make that trio perfection! And we all know Erin, will select just the right leopard if she goes that route!
Congratulations!!! Yes to LEOPARD!!!
Ditto! Congratulations, Erin.
Was just coming here to comment on the spine speculation and Oh my God I think you’re right! It’s gotta be leopard!
Hah! My thoughts exactly. It’s gotta be leopard! Congrats, Erin! Looking forward to adding it to my collection!
Was going to say the same!
was going to say the same thing! seems like a no brainer!
Yep. Same. Leopard, of course.
