I Want To Go To There: Relais Christine Paris
I am really looking forward to going to Paris again sometime in the future (with or without kids…hard to make that call, although Henry knows more French than we do!) When I saw this amazing newly renovated hotel, Relais Christine, I thought “yup, that’s where we’ll stay”. I love the variety of rooms with layered and interesting decor, (including a lot of Pierre Frey fabrics and wallpapers we love).
I also really love how they left a lot of the interesting architectural quirks in the rooms.
OMG, the floors!
They have some rooms that are two levels so if you are traveling with kids, you have a separate area for them to sleep without getting two whole rooms.
They also have garden level suites that connect to the outside…
And look how charming the outside IS! And this is all right in the heart of Paris!
The library where you can enjoy a cocktail and chat…
I adore the lobby area with the geometric marble floors and scenic wallpaper.

You also must consider the Firmdale Hotels in London…Charlotte Street and Covent Garden. There is the same modern traditional, amazing fabrics and artwork.
When we went, we stayed at the Hotel Mansart – very lovely and great location.
I have a question on the faucets you linked to above. Do you have any experience with Kingston Brass? Their line is so handsome, but I am worried about quality and durability.
I love this. I want to go there! I am a little inspired by this and would love to ask advice. I am putting Flavor paper “Laced” in a bedroom and would love to put patterned drapes up with it for this look. Any suggestions or ideas where to start?
We found Paris to be surprisingly kid friendly. Ours were a bit older than Henry (9 and 11 at that time) but there were lots of younger children around and so many fun things to do with kids. And, most restaurants were very accommodating. You might not want to go with an infant but, give it a couple of years, and I think you’d find it to be a terrific family vacation.
RElais Christine is so good. We haven’t stayed but have met friends here for drinks in the lobby/lounge and spent hours in front of the fire while their kids slept upstairs. Love!
So, my husband and I did stay there and because it was part of a longer trip we could only afford their smallest room.
When I say it was tiny, it was itsy bitsy. You opened the door and were basically on the bed.
And that room was still not cheap! But if I could get a slightly bigger room I would definitely stay there again. It was very charming!
This was my mother’s favorite hotel in Paris. She and I had a very special stay there (sadly, her last) in 2017. Hoping to visit again for my 50th in October. It’s a very special place, and has never disappointed. Love the honor bar in the lounge where we enjoyed a cocktail every night before dinner!
We stayed there a few years ago (before the renovation) and it was wonderful! We were on the garden level so our room opened onto a courtyard. The staff was really amazing. The area is charming and so convenient.
OH MY GOD. ERIN! I stayed there on my honeymoon!!! IT’S AMAZING. and in a great location!!!
Granted, it was 10 years ago, so it wasn’t this pretty, but damn. Now I want to go again. WITHOUT CHILDREN.
I stayed there last summer prior to a river cruise. I have to admit that I was not blown away. We had a small room but we had just come from London’s Hotel 41 which is truly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It was my second stay there and every bit as wonderful as my first time 10 years before. The staff is the finest and friendliest I’ve ever encountered. So, for anyone going to London, STAY AT 41!
The designer is Laura Gonzalez and she is very well known in France. I stayed at the Relais Christine many years ago (with small children!) and Ms. Gonzalez modernized it beautifully while retaining its spirit. I live in Paris now and highly recommend it for children. Try the Jardin d’Aclimatation for the kids which is next door to La Fondation Louis Vuitton for you.
I’m going there in April!! I picked the hotel on a whim for my 40th and now I’m even more excited!
Fun fact! I was backpacking through Europe awhile back, got robbed in Paris, and ended up crashing with my best friend who happened to be in Paris ON HER HONEYMOON, staying at this very hotel. I ended up cutting my trip short but we had tea in that beautiful courtyard the morning I left Paris. So despite being a distraught third wheel, I can say this hotel is tres charmant.
You will not regret taking him – it’s an amazing city for kids! So many parks and carousels. My kids were ages 4 and 2, and it was so different to travel more slowly and seeing it through their eyes.
