One room I have not touched so far is Henry’s room. As I had JUST finished his gorgeous room in our old home, and all his furniture works in his new room, I put it on hold while we figured some other things out. It’s an adorable room for a kid- with one big deep window seat perfect for reading and a second smaller one, built in bookshelfs all around the room and a really cozy feel.
The only thing we changed was adding in recessed lighting in here (the ceilings are low so no flushmount fixtures)- not shown in this pic. We also refinished the floors to match the rest of the house – a slightly deeper, cooler brown.
Henry’s room at our old house- GOD I love this room. We’re keeping everything shown here except the wallpaper (*cue sobbing)
I brought some samples home and Henry was drawn to the “red crazy stripes” as he put it. I do think it’s super cute, and since this room is quite a bit darker than his old room, it’ll brighten it up. Sadly, his commissioned painting won’t fit above his dresser in this room so I need to find a spot for it in the hall outside his room or in the playroom. I’ll probably put a mirror above his dresser in the new room- maybe this one?
Here’s a little board with links:
DAYBED // CAR ART // NIGHTSTANDS // SWING ARM SCONCES // RUG (SIMILAR) // WALLPAPER // ROMAN SHADE FABRIC // BEDDING // CHAIR // FLOOR LAMP // FELT BINS // BOOKENDS // ACCENT TABLE
I am starting to order for the other rooms in the house and will share those boards soon too!
All of it is so great! Would you mind sharing the day bed fabric source?
What color is his new room? I’m looking for a calm master bedroom color.
I’m in awe of your seemingless endless renovation budget. So jealous.
That dresser is gorgeous! Do you have a source for that?
Love this room! It will grow well with him. I have that wallpaper (in navy) in my 8 year-old son’s bathroom:)
I loved his old room! But it sounds to me, because he had some say in the newer room, that he might love it a little more. What a lucky boy to have such a cool space to grow into…
Hi – I’m just so impressed that you can decorate so many rooms so quickly with a business, two small children and a marriage! Can you share the source on the dresser?
WOW! I just love his former room. The new one is missing some character. I am looking forward to seeing the progress.
Beautiful design- the red will be so cool for him as he grows!! I also loved the previous design, so much so that I tried to track down that Hinson paper last spring and was so sad to hear they had gone out of business. Cant wait to see the finished new room!
Lucky kid! Setting the bar high for future life.
Hi!! love both the rooms!! can I ask where the wallpaper in his old room is from?
Found it thanks to the commenter after us. Sadly, it is no longer being made.

My question, too! And my name is also Meg :)
Do you think overhead lighting is always necessary? I have a 1960 home. It does not have overhead lighting in any of the bedrooms. I have heard that designers do not like to add recessed lights because they look like “swiss cheese” in the ceiling! Do you agree?
