One of our favorite procrastination hobbies at the EGD offices is creating schemes for “pretend clients”– basically, when we start pulling things together we love for no one in particular. On occasion, they make their way into real homes, but sometimes it’s just for fun. The other day the girls suggested I do one using my Kit wallpaper in the red and pale blue colorway, as it’s such a favorite but probably a little less obvious of a color combo to use it in a room. We decided this would be for a feminine, but not frilly, teenager who doesn’t like pink or purple! Above is what I pulled together, and below are the explanations of where things go and with what furniture and accessories.
The pieces I’d use in this room- hey a little scallop never hurt anyone:
Bed // Nightstands // Chest // Armchair // Bedding // Lamps // Art // Mirror // Ceiling Fixture
I love these posts. When I can’t sleep at night, I pretend re-decorate friends’ homes. And then in real life they find me standing in front of walls and fireplaces and in nooks and crannies like a weirdo, but actually its because I’m reassessing my proportions for my imaginary designs (Insert monkey hand over eyes emoji!)
It’s a beautiful room; I love it, but I have a 13 year old daughter and would never wallpaper her room. It’s far too permanent a decision and teens change interests regularly. Cottage core one day and Fairy core the next. Yes these are real terms to describe “aesthetics” (another favorite word of teen girls). Love the furniture choices but I’d stick with paint on the walls.
Love, love love…I could live with this color scheme throughout my house.
Absolutely gorgeous. An uber sophisticated teen!! I think it’s interesting that you guys are doing so much colored trim with white walls now. That was big in the 70’s.
Any “pretend” boy tweens in the future?
So great!!! I LOVEEEE when you do “Pretend Client” room designs!!! Would also love to see a Sunroom design around one of your new rugs……So OVER Winter here in MN and need something to “cheer” me up!!! :)
Love it! Maybe before my daughter leaves for college this year we could give her room a glow up? You know, if we could ever agree on anything… This gets better, right?
I have two boys so I like to dream up feminine rooms…for a future guest bedroom! I think it’s the perfect place to add some color. Solidly ivory, wood, blue and green everywhere else!
I’m a 50 year old woman and even I would love this room!!! Lol!! It’s gorgeous!
Same!!
So great! Please do a teen/tween boy room!! My 12 yr old son is due for a new room & wants something “modern”. Would love to see your take!!
