I am so excited to show you this project today- it’s a personal favorite not only because I think it came out beautifully, but also because we worked on this with my dad and his architecture firm, New England Design.ย He’d been working with these clients for a while and when they decided to rework the layout of this house and redo the bathrooms, master suite and do a facelift on most of the main spaces in the house, he asked me if I was interested in helping- which was of course very flattering.ย Also, we grew up spending summers in this beach-side town in Connecticut, so it was fun to go back and visit.
As you may be able to tell already, this client LOVES blue and white. And good thing- because we do too! She had these sofas that she wanted to re-use so we reupholstered them in this great durable fabric and piped them in ivory and that set the tone for the whole space. The big statement mirror was the perfect modern, beachy piece to complement the white woodwork and the amazing unobstructed views of the ocean. The room-length window seat offers tons of extra seating for entertaining.
Looking through the living area into the dining area.ย This is a busy summer getaway for extended family so the open concept is great, but it also still has defined spaces, which breaks it up and gives everyone dedicated space.
These chairs are possibly my favorite thing- done in Mark Sikes for Schumacher fabric.
The artwork is by Karin Olah from Gregg Irby Gallery and is SO perfect for this room. I just fell in love the minute I saw it.
The buffet in the dining area. The host chairs in the foreground were custom made with outdoor fabrics pieced together into a center stripe.
The views are hard to compete with, so instead we just complemented them with texture and ocean-inspired colors.
These woven chairs are incredible and the perfect beachy texture, while also being durable. Also, a side note: I drank this rosรฉ after the shoot and it’s SO yummy and only $15.
The kitchen was left alone except we re-painted the cabinetry the same color as all the woodwork, walls and trim – Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White – changed the hardware and replaced the countertops and backsplash with this amazing quartzite. It is amazing the change that alone made to the space.
The kitchen before- perfectly fine, but needing a little refresh:
In the powder room we sourced this incredible blue coral mirror and picked a great striped fabric for romans to match. Note the inlay wood floors my Dad designed to look like a yacht’s deck. So beautiful!
This room makes me just SIGH. It is SO relaxing, ethereal and bright…. and the view right out to the dock is just beyond.
How about those drapes??? Possibly my most favorite drapes of ALL TIME. This picture makes my blood pressure lower significantly.
I actually found these chair pillows at Pottery Barn before the shoot and they are so perfect (and now on sale).
Did I mention all the window treatments are motorized a la The Holiday? Including blackout rollers underneath. This is what dream are made of.
The master bath might be one of my all-time favorites too. The cerused oak vanity came out just perfect thanks to my Dad’s team of amazing millworkers. The floor tile was the perfect pairing with it.
This is a small bathroom, but it really is quite luxurious.
You can see in the above picture to the left the wall of built ins we did in the bedroom, and here is a detail shot.
Then there is a walk-in closet, which we wallpapered in a light blue grasscloth.
We did a great blue marled runner that also is wall to wall upstairs.
There are two king guest rooms, both identical. The beds were existing but we dressed them up with new bedding, nightstands and lighting.
There are two other guest rooms, each with two twin trundle beds. These were originally red so we painted them navy and found some adorable accents to go with them.
There are two guest bathrooms – again, both the same- the owner wanted to keep the design very simple.ย We had custom navy vanities made and kept the accents nautical but not kitschy.
The showers have these great rolling glass doors my Dad found through Kohler.
While I know some of you will want sources for items shown here, I hope you understand my need to maintain the value of my services and that I can’t give away the information for free since clients pay us to source and coordinate these items for them.ย Instead, here are some links to give you the look of this home through retail sources! And if you have a home you might want help with, email us at [email protected]. We are currently booking for fall!
LOVE YOUR PROJECT!!! There is NOTHING that I wouldn’t like!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I complelety understand the reason for not sharing sources. Can anyone identify the brand of lighting used in the guest baths. Thank you.
Absolutely gorgeous- it looks like the house sits right on the water. I love what you and your father did with the house.
I forgot to ask the source of the bathroom floor tile. Just gorgeous, and the perfect bridge between the marble and tile surfaces and the beautiful wood vanity. Thank you.
Wow! This is beautiful! Peaceful and relaxing and stylish! Love all the textures youโve used and that master bath ๐๐. The oak vanity, those floors, and the luxury of a fully equipped shower, plus storage! Just perfect.
Just beautiful!! Could you share your source for the white gloss propeller ceiling fan?
Where do I get those blue and white drapes?? Love !!
Thank you for giving us a glimpse inside your project. How wonderful that you collaborated with your dad! This is just beautiful…and it looks so peaceful and inviting. I do have a question: When having painted cabinets repainted, do your painters typically spray them or paint them with a brush–or a combination? Thank you!
This is just magnificent. My family has a 150 year old farmhouse on the Chesapeake that needs a makeover. If only we could hire you for that. That would be a dream come true! Your work is really inspirational – thanks for all the great ideas…
Gorgeous!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
[…] Dream house alert. […]
Erin,
I love the round pulls you have used on a few of the dressers and built ins. They look like the ones you used to hack an IKEA dresser for your master bedroom. I loved them and have used them in two places in our home. They really transform the pieces they are used on!
This is my dream home – so so beautifully done! ONE DAY I dream of hiring you to create an idyllic space like this for me!
This is absolutely beautiful! It may be my favorite project of yours. How special that you got to work with your dad, too! Love the marled runner, the chairs covered in Schumacher.Well done. In the master, are those curtains able to close at night and block our light?
Dreamlike!
This is quite possibly the most beautiful interior I’ve ever seen. Wonderful, wonderful! Karol
Absolutely stunning! Out of curiosity, do you recommend a particular type or brand of rug pad to your clients? I have some that grip the rugs better than others. Thank you!
This whole house and every thing you and your Dad did is beyond beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
It’s so exciting that you no longer have to hold off on publishing projects for years because of book constraints. A lot of bloggers might (rightfully) stretch this home reveal out over weeks and weeks/many posts. What a delight to see and read it all in one big gulp. Congrats! It’s beautiful.
So Beautiful. Could you tell me who makes the gorgeous Master Bedroom Drapery fabric??
Can you disclose the brand of Rose!? The house is GORGEOUS! Beautiful work and beautiful inspiration!
Erin, Impeccably gorgeous. A stunner!
So beautiful!!!!!
Gorgeous Work. Love your use of indoor/outdoor fabrics in high traffic areas to make them more durable.
Stress free and beautiful.
Absolutely love this. You are amazing, and your client has fantastic taste! So beautiful and classic. The home looks incredibly pulled together but also inviting and comfortable. Wow. Love, love, love.
Simply stunning! Love every beautiful inch! So many gorgeous pieces assembled here to create a stylish relaxing retreat. Great collaboration with your Dad! So special! Xoxo
Home run, Erin!! Such a beautiful home!
Just fabulous! I love everything!
Can I possibly ask where in CT this is? Being fairly new to New England I am always looking for places on the water!!!
Superb. Living in GLP( such a special place) I know this house. You did a fantastic job and I only hope to see it sometime- possibly another hours tour. You are truly the Master along with your dad. Bravo Bravo!โ
Amazing! What a calming and inviting space. Simply stunning. There can never be enough blue and white ๐๐๐๐
Absolutely stunning! The view doesn’t hurt but your designs are so gorgeous in every room! And how amazing to collaborate on a project like this with your Dad!
Beautiful. Love your selections. So peaceful.
Absolutely Fantastic!
This is absolutely stunning! It’s both beautiful and livable all at the same time. I’m curious what you did in the living area for lighting as I do not see any lamps? Obviously in the daytime, it’s filled with natural light. But what about the evening?
Gosh, as it is, I think you are extremely generous with the sources you post. Thank you!!!
I hate that this is on the east coast instead of west โฆ and that it belongs to someone else! Otherwise it’s perfect. So great that the photo props are drinkable.
Sigh.
WOW Erin — you have outdone yourself!! Really so exquisite — everything. Those are some very lucky clients! Congrats to all — that house is beyond perfection!!
This is my favorite project you’ve done yet. You have a gift, Erin!
Beautiful and so calming!! That master suite feelings right out of a Nancy Meyers film!!! :)
This house is gorgeous! Great job! Quick question though about lighting in the living room and dining room – I didn’t see any lamps or light fixtures – did I just miss them?
Beautiful job. I don’t need a source, but I am wondering what the design/motif on the floor of the master bath is called, the one with the rings? Open cane perhaps? It’s lovely.
Totally understand not being able to share your sources but thanks for breaking your rule re rose wine ๐
A quick comment after reading the number of requests for sources, even after you clearly wrote that you cannot reveal them. We sometimes get so excited about creative ideas and beautiful visuals that we forget designers earn their bread and butter from their client projects. It’s not incumbent upon you to be a fount of freebies for readers, and I respect you for honoring the integrity of your professional work.
And brava on the beautiful beach house and opportunity to work with your father! Best wishes.
This is amazing, every detail (oh my the details!) is perfect. Do you know the approximate size of the master bath? We are redoing a small space as well and it would be great to know what size you were working with for that masterpiece.
Hi Erin! Thanks for sharing this beautiful home! Could you please tell me where the sofas are from? Also loving the master & guest room sheets! Thank you!
I really just want to know about the yummy rosรฉ wine! It’s so hard to find a good one! What’s the brand? :) And the house is absolutely gorgeous… thanks for the inspiration! So fun to get to work with your dad.
It’s Bread & Butter! So delicious and not crazy $! Try it!
This is the beach house of my dreams! Absolute perfection and my favorite project that you’ve featured. Bravo!!
this house might be at the top of the envy list. holy cow it’s stunning!!! congrats. do you have a favorite go-to white slipcovered couch? saw the wayfair one you like (which is great and a great price) but wonder about a non-sectional. like a couch version of the white chair in this stunning bedroom!! Every detail is stunning. And yes, can i have those curtains too?!?!?
Gah! That little GLP pillow is perfection! Was there at my parents’ place this weekend and I just love it. What a beautiful home! Next time I walk around the point I’m going to be peeking into windows wondering which one has this gorgeous interior :)
Erin! THIS HOUSE. Wow. I hope you realize how incredibly talented you are. Really. I love every single detail.
I love it all!! So beautiful! I love blue and white!!! Congratulations Erin!!
Love the dining table…could you tell me where you found it? Beautiful home!!
Perfection! Absolutely adore your design aesthetic!
Absolutely gorgeous! Where are the stools from?
This project is so gorgeous, I canโt stop scrolling through these pictures! Those window treatments are in fact, perfection. Would you mind sharing the fabric source?
Beautiful — do you have any information on the wood floors? They are lovely.
Cherry.
May I please ask the source of the small white oval side table. Thank you.
Oomph is the brand of the tini tables.
Ha – once I stopped thinking about it I was able to remember: Tini Tables!!
I used to know the name of a company that makes those tables (or nearly identical ones!) – but I can’t remember it. I’ve been wracking my brain, but no luck. They came in a variety of colors – if I can find it I’ll post here again – sorry!!
Ballard Designs has a similar side table called the Kendall.
Is the dining table made of marble?
no it’s painted wood
I never thought I could love a beach house more than the one from the movie Something’s Gotta Give but this one may top it. Absolutely STUNNING!
Just beautiful! Probably my favorite project of all your work, though pretty much everything you do is great. I love that you got to work with your Dad! Congratulations!
