I was going to title this, “Old House Porn” and then figured it would get flagged as inappropriate. When in fact, it is anything BUT. The Circa real estate website is the world’s greatest time suck if you are a fan of historic homes! In our office we have not only lost several hours of productivity since I discovered it, but also spent this morning gasping, oooohhh-ing and ahhhh-ing over houses we can’t buy in states we don’t live in. Because when you work in this industry, THIS IS WHAT WE CALL FUN!!! So I rounded up some favorites from their site in case you too had not discovered it yet (or their other Instagram site @cheapoldhouses).
I am DEAD over this Forrest Gump style, completely BONKERS plantation home in Louisiana. And it’s only $850k!!! That will buy you maybe a one bedroom apartment in Boston. MAYBE. Arrggghhhhh why do I live here???

If you like old houses my parents are selling theirs on Martha’s Vineyard. It was built in 1682. That’s pretty old. ;)

Ok, not sure if “thank you” is in order because I am going down the Circa black hole – its like when someone puts a song in your head and you’re like, “Gee, thanks for nothing.” I LOVE old houses and am ordering a pennant to make it official. We are under contract for a 1890’s bungalow in a historic district of downtown Raleigh. Might be my favorite renovation yet. Bring on the old houses!
Classic architecture just never fails!!! Thank you for all of these examples! I often wonder why so many “new” homes are built (old too) with no real defining architectural details. I’m not saying that all homes should reflect 1820! Just often wonder there are so many messed up elements on one home! For example : brick and stone on the front, turrets one side of the house and Palladian windows over the front door!!!

Oh, wow! I will not be getting anything done this afternnon, but I sure will have fun! These are just amazing and all so very different. It makes me happy to see how well maintained or restored and “loved” these homes are after all these years. The stories they could tell. 😉 Thank you so vety much for sharing.

Oh god – another site to get lost in. I also love Oldhousedreams.com, but mainly because they also list Canadian homes. It’s easier to dream about buying an old house if they’re in the same country :)
