(pennant for sale here)
I was going to title this, “Old House Porn” and then figured it would get flagged as inappropriate. When in fact, it is anything BUT. The Circa real estate website is the world’s greatest time suck if you are a fan of historic homes! In our office we have not only lost several hours of productivity since I discovered it, but also spent this morning gasping, oooohhh-ing and ahhhh-ing over houses we can’t buy in states we don’t live in. Because when you work in this industry, THIS IS WHAT WE CALL FUN!!! So I rounded up some favorites from their site in case you too had not discovered it yet (or their other Instagram site @cheapoldhouses).
I am DEAD over this Forrest Gump style, completely BONKERS plantation home in Louisiana. And it’s only $850k!!! That will buy you maybe a one bedroom apartment in Boston. MAYBE. Arrggghhhhh why do I live here???
I literally CAN NOT with this screen porch.
Yes, just YES.
Or maybe you prefer the quaint charm of this Warren, CT Colonial built in 1759?
Oh hi perfect spot for a dinner party.
This stone beauty is in North Carolina.
This Salisbury, CT house is MY DREAM….. the grounds are to die for too. If only I could live in the country.
Look how wide those planks are on the floor.
AND THIS FLOOR.
Whaaaaaaatttttt.
This South Carolina home has such gorgeous symmetry…
This Woodstock, Vermont home is full of antique details….
And a BARN or two!
Check out the entrance to this historic plantation home in Virginia on 70 acres.
We all FREAKED when we saw the millwork around this fireplace. They do NOT build ’em like they used to.
Those DOORS!
This Greek Revival in Maine is giving me all the feels.
This beauty in Alabama is a National Historic Landmark.
This “little” house in Connecticut has a guest house and is giving me major “The Holiday” vibes with that fence situation.
Check out the fencing in this garden! So good!
I love that you can search by type of property, from this charming menu of choices:
Also, their gear is SO adorable.
Good luck getting any work done today!!! :)
Thank you for posting this! I’m in northern NJ where too many old houses aren’t treasured in the least. Loving these pictures. This tab stays open on my browser.
Old house is the ONLY way for some of us. And preferably not open concept.
Amazing!!! This post has caused a link vortex (right click, ‘open link in new tab’) like I have never experienced before. My productivity for the day went out the window.
The Virginia plantation…”We all FREAKED when we saw the millwork around this fireplace. They do NOT build ’em like they used to.”
“They” would be slaves.
If you like old houses my parents are selling theirs on Martha’s Vineyard. It was built in 1682. That’s pretty old. ;)

Ok, not sure if “thank you” is in order because I am going down the Circa black hole – its like when someone puts a song in your head and you’re like, “Gee, thanks for nothing.” I LOVE old houses and am ordering a pennant to make it official. We are under contract for a 1890’s bungalow in a historic district of downtown Raleigh. Might be my favorite renovation yet. Bring on the old houses!
Classic architecture just never fails!!! Thank you for all of these examples! I often wonder why so many “new” homes are built (old too) with no real defining architectural details. I’m not saying that all homes should reflect 1820! Just often wonder there are so many messed up elements on one home! For example : brick and stone on the front, turrets one side of the house and Palladian windows over the front door!!!
Hi! What a fun post, I actually toured that “the holiday” style home in Connecticut! It’s so cute inside with amazing vintage wide planked wood floors and a beautiful side sunroom.
Ohhh thank you for introducing me to this website!!
*makes cup of tea and gets cozy at computer for the next 5 hours!
Oh, wow! I will not be getting anything done this afternnon, but I sure will have fun! These are just amazing and all so very different. It makes me happy to see how well maintained or restored and “loved” these homes are after all these years. The stories they could tell. 😉 Thank you so vety much for sharing.
Come to Virginia!!! franki
You’re killing me. With all the houses I can’t live in. The details. The trim. The antiques. Good thing I didn’t have much on my to-do list.
There goes my afternoon :)
omg seriously this is insane. and they want to save the animals too? I love this and them and thank you for posting!
This is literally my version of Heaven 😍 Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. It’s so GOOD!!!!!!
Oh god – another site to get lost in. I also love Oldhousedreams.com, but mainly because they also list Canadian homes. It’s easier to dream about buying an old house if they’re in the same country :)
I really want the t-shirt but sadly they don’t ship up here
