Our D.C. stop was at the one and only Jonathan Adler in gorgeous Georgetown (seriously, so much house porn- I could totally live there- reminds me so much of Boston’s own Beacon Hill).
Was so thrilled to see my book in one of my favorite stores- atop one of my most loved dining tables and accessorized by the amazing new Globo boxes I’m obsessed with!!! It was surreal for sure (like this whole experience has been).
I went a little more casual in the outfit department this time, since it was raining.
Dress- Banana Republic (40% off today too!) // Tights- Spanx (reversible-the best) // Booties- Ann Taylor // Clutch- Clare Vivier// Earrings- Alexis Bittar // Necklace- Kate Spade (old)
The crowd was AWESOME. So awesome. It was amazing to meet so many readers from the area. Andrew was busy chatting everyone up in line and snapped this great shot for me!
One incredible reader waited in line at Baked & Wired for an hour so she could bring me D.C.’s best cupcakes to try (unbelievably sweet)- and let me tell you- they were MIND BLOWING. Best cupcakes I’ve ever had. I tried all of them while sitting in my hotel room at 10:30 p.m.- not the best idea right before you go try to sleep!
After the party I met up with some Miss Porter’s classmates I haven’t seen in YEARS for dinner at Martyn’s- which happens to be where Jackie O (a MPS alum too) got engaged to JFK! So cool. :)
Then we were off to Atlanta the next morning to do a signing at Ballard Designs! I order from Ballard ALL THE TIME for my clients (and myself) and have never seen their store so this was super fun for me! I loved the little table they set up for me…
Check out that CHAIR!!!! I am loving their new cheetah fabric on the oval back Louis chairs (I have the rectangle back version in my own dining room in the book!)
I had a leopard- on-cheetah situation while signing books- kinda perfect (and maybe a sign that I’ve taken this too far?) Dress by DVF and necklace from Chloe & Isabel.
The Atlanta crowd! :)
We stayed in midtown and walked into the Georgian Terrace to get a quick bite and I was all ” Wait, I’ve blogged about this place before!!!” So funny!
Now we’re off to Raleigh to hand with Jaime and the Furbish Studio crew tonight from 6-8! Come on down if you are int he area!
I must say your book is the first I have read and looked at the beautiful pictures. I usually buy magazines. Love décor in every sense, but I really did enjoy reading it. It made me laugh and I loved how you just feel real! I felt thrilled for you in your success. I’m sure you will have more book tours and thank you for opening my eyes on so many levels. I love to learn and be inspired and you have done just that. Absolutely loved Andrew’s introduction. You made a great team.

Yay! Erin!! I was so happy to meet you (shake your hand and say hi) and meeting the super gentleman, Andrew, too! Really, he was nice! You both make such a lovely couple! I am very happy to see your success, you deserve this and much more!
Good to see you here in Atlanta, Andrew, and to meet you in person, Erin. Congrats on the success of the book, tour, and business. Stay in touch.
Best,
Joe
Hi Erin,
I am crazy about your designs and I am an architectural guru – I’ve been obsessed with houses and structures since I was incredibly young. I know you’ve have done a few non design blogs in the past, more personal things.
It seems as if you and Andrew have the most realistically perfect relationship from what I have seen. Obviously, you won’t post the negative but the good seems overwhelmingly happy to. I will always read your blog, books and etc. I was wondering if you were able to do a little ditty so to speak on your experience with relationships and life with Andrew – perhaps a tribute to yourselves and how you have made yourself into yourselves.
Thank you! Cheers to you from Downtown Boston :-)
Meg
I must read your book.

My mom and I LOVED meeting you and Andrew today in Dallas. I’m sure this will be your first of many book tours!!!! We have told everyone we know to buy your book……..and several people we don’t know.
:( we were on travel and missed seeing you in Georgetown. Aren’t those cupcakes “da bomb!” franki
Looking forward to reading your book, Erin, btw, love the outfit in DC!

I so wish I could have been there tonight at furbish. My two favorite bloggers, in one of my favorite shops. Amazing! Oh well, waiting for my book on the mail and hoping tonight was the best yet!
I am truly so happy and excited for you! I enjoy your blog very much and I ordered your book today. I can not wait to receive it! Enjoy your book tour.
Erin, I am so happy for you! This book is amazing — I absolutely devoured it as soon as it arrived! And everyone is right about Andrew’s introduction, it is stunning. The only thing I wish is that I could get my book signed… Poo. Are you thinking of coming to Seattle? Or as an alternate, how about one of those precious signed bookplates for those of us who pre-ordered and got the ball rolling, so to speak???
Just ordered my book and can’t wait to read it on my vacation!
I am absolutely loving the book. My jaw dropped open at Andrew’s amazing introduction. It was so Perfect and so heartfelt! So unbearably sweet. The book has been a joy to read, truly. I check your blog every morning with my coffee and have your site bookmarked as an icon on my iPhone main page right next to facebook, Instagram, and pinterest. I am a huge fan! I wish you were coming to Minneapolis, Mn – but I am sending well wishes. Enjoy the tour and savor every moment.
I’m really enjoying the book and all of your insider tips! Wish I could’ve been at the Boston signing! Please do another one!!!
She is doing one at Hudson in the South End on the 30th…FYI. :)
I just have to comment here that I am absolutely LOVING the book. I am (no exaggeration) laughing out loud more than when I read Tiny Fey. In addition to inspiring design, you have an amazing gift for story telling. Just wanted you to know how much the book is exceeding my expectations. I’m savoring it in small bits as I don’t want it to end! I think I know what I’m buying a few people for Christmas!!
I’m waiting with bated breath for when you reach Houston!
very cool, Erin! Looks like a blast. You should come to Telluride :D
Wish you were coming to Charlotte!
I’m SO BUMMED that I missed the signing in DC on Friday night! And I’m so glad you tried Baked & Wired…they’re INCREDIBLE.
Drizzly weather and the subsequent bad traffic conspired to make me miss you by 11 minutes in Georgetown. :(
Sorry to have missed meeting you (and Andrew) but you looked lovely!
It was SO nice to meet you on Saturday! I am glad you enjoyed your stay here in Atlanta. Thanks so much for coming here and I hope you enjoy the rest of your tour! Congrats again on the success of your wonderful book!
BAKED AND WIRED IS THE BEST! We had their cupcakes at our wedding and I used to work across the street from their shop….dangerous!
My book finally arrived Saturday and I barely made it past the front door before ripping into the packaging. Thanks to cold PA weather, it was a perfect day to make the stew, too! The book + the recipes = too delish!
Enjoy the rest of the tour!
I’m so glad you like the recipes!
Just finished the book last night and I absolutely loved it! Was laughing aloud at various points (never thought that would happen while reading a design book). The essays mixed with all of the design inspiration and tips – just perfect. I’m loving seeing the tour stops on the blog, and all of your outfits! It must be such a whirlwind but hope you’re enjoying it!
Thank you so much!!!
Erin, yours is the first design book that I actually read and loved in a long time. :)
So glad! :)
