The forecast for this weekend is sunny and in the 60’s, which is my FAVORITE kind of weather. Crisp and refreshing, but not freezing. A sweater and jeans, hot coffee and long walks. :) So here are two sweater based outfits I pinned this week recreated! Love these refined but comfy and cool combinations!
A cozy turtleneck plus a fitted leather jacket and slim pants really keeps things from getting too bulky.
1. // 2. (I have this- faux leather but looks real and fits AMAZING-for $100) // 3. // 4. // 5. // 6. // 7.
This pic is just so incredibly chic- an oversized sweater with boyfriend jeans would look sloppy if not for the killer feminine heel.
1. (love this company!) // 2. // 3. (this boyfriend style is slimmer so you don’t look like you gained 30 pounds- I found them on super sale too!)// 4. // 5. (a purchase I have never regretted- they are just so beautiful on the foot.)
Shop the post (including a bunch of other sweaters I’ve got my eye on)
HAPPY WEEKEND!

Happy to see this sweater collection, really adorable. They all are very stylish i just love this green one its really very adorable
You have really been an inspiration. Love to read your blogs.. :))
Top pic is from notebrooke blogger.
Oooooh,,,SWEATERS here I come (and I’m 72!!) franki (I wear frayed bottoms ALL the time…short legs too yet…)
Hi Erin,
Can you give the info on the purse in the second outfit. I can’t get the tab to work. Thanks
Erin: this is completely unrelated to this blog post, but wanted to write. We are embarking on a master bedroom/bathroom/office/media room overhaul. I am meeting with a designer on Thursday, and in preparation I’ve been going through old magazines and design books, to flag inspiration pages.
This afternoon I pulled your EOS book off the shelf, intending to just go through the pictures. Instead, I spent a very happy afternoon on the couch, reading it from cover to cover again, and being reminded all over again how fabulous you are. Thank you for doing the good work and the hard work that you do. I am so appreciative of it, even from afar!
I’d never heard of Cuyana before and just looked at their website. Have you ordered from them before? I’m wondering how soft the wool/cashmere blend sweaters are since they are only 10% cashmere. Love their classic designs – just wondered if anyone has had any experience with their clothes. Thank you!
In the first/top picture, where is the sweater from?!
Hi!! I can’t wait to put my sweaters back into action ! I always have trouble with the bottoms. I get really bored when I wear jeans and black pants all the time. I need to figure it out. I love those jcrew pants, though… Hmm! But I think I can’t afford to pull of the ripped jeans look being 5’2 :(
Actually, the watch of the first pic caught my eye!! OMG. I wonder if it is a Cartier tank solo ( I’m obsessed, but $$$$)…. Hmmm… I doesn’t look like one… I’m curious!
Erin – On picture #1, faux leather jacket. What color did you get and what is the sizing like? Thank you!!!
I got the grey (but I love the green) and got a small and its fits like a dream!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! this is the nicest thing you ever “gave” me….i might get the black AND the green.
Think positive and don’t let the grumpy responders get you down…As a 66 year old follower of your blog, I so admire how you manage your time and your multi faceted life with the right priorities….I always enjoy your fashion posts and, like previous commenters, I adjust for age. Thanks so much!
Ditto Janie’s comment and I love the fashion advice. I’m not a big shopper, so I use your recommendations to limit the time I spend hunting for the perfect items. Thank you!!
Btw I will be getting the Boden chunky sweater in the pink pearl?
Why do you not reply to the the average blog commenters?
Not sure what you are talking about? I do my best to reply when I can, but I can’t do it all the time with a baby, work and lots of other commitments.
I’m an “average blog commenter” and Erin has responded to me in a very timely manner . Actually, I think I requested a paint color and the response was almost immediate.
OY..people.
Just curious where this is coming from. Erin has responded to one of my comments before, and I am a self-described “average blog commenter.”
happy to see turtlenecks still! I love them (giraffe neck here) and was worried they were going out as I don’t see them much in stores lately.
Ugh, 90′ here at the beach on the west coast this weekend…no fall for us yet! I’m ready for cooler days and sweater nights!
Amen to this! We are still suffering through a brutal heat wave – 90s and humid – not normal at all for this time of year in the midwest. More and more our region is getting more southern and tropical. All the ughs.
Can’t hide now! Fall is here! Wonder if I need one new sweater right now or should I wait a couple of more weeks.
Great looks. I agree with Maria about the ripped jeans. I also like a thinner cashmere sweater, either turtleneck or a deep V. Like Monica Bellucci in the Eric Bompard ads a couple of years ago. A look that’s always in style.
Love the post! I just bought the turtleneck and if you are a new customer and sign up with email, you get 10% off! Thanks Erin as usual for being my personal shopper. P.S. Ready for the home collection debut and have it marked on the calendar. Now just need to alert American Express!
Hey Erin! I too am looking forward to sweater weather – I’ve got a crush on a royal blue Italian blend sweater from Banana Republic – but I’m nervous to pull the trigger. I’m trying to make more adult choices in my wardrobe in terms of fit and quality and I’m not used to caring for wool, cashmere, good pants and blazers…. Your style always comes across as timeless but of the moment and fashionable. If you’re ever stuck on a fashion post idea, I’d love to hear about how you care for your clothing. Sure, there’s info online about specific fabrics and whatever, but I’d love to hear about what you purchase vs what you avoid (for care reasons), how you store it, what gets dry cleaned…. I’m catching on that now that I can spend a little more on better quality garments, there are other things I’m still pretty clueless about! Have a great weekend :):)
erin, as per usz this is beautiful, and has me down for the weekend ahead, but what i am longing for is a great pair of fitted loose dare i say it..culottes/gauchos? do you have any thoughts or leads on a great pair?
Jill, Check out ace and jig for their culottes. Super comfy and chic!
I don’t think I can let you do that- even though if anyone can pull it off it’s you.
mmmm, I love an oversized sweater. so cozy! I’m wearing one today on my blog as well.
i’ve got weekend reading + some steals under $50 on my blog today if you’re interested!

Love these looks….my only thing is that I think after 40, ripped jeans feel like I might be trying too hard! Ha! I’ll stick to the toothpick jeans.
I’m 45 and love the new raw-edge denim trend. A cool but tidier alternative to all the ripped jeans out there. You can find lots of different washes too, so you can get a little more “formal” with a dark wash.
Same here Eliza, and I’m 57…
