I thought it would be fun to share some snapshots of a recently installed remote design project we did on Long Island. Due to COVID and distance, we never set foot in this house and have not met the client in person, yet were able to take an unremarkable space and make it a truly cozy, amazing spot for this family to hang out, entertain and quarantine in style (is it OVER YET???)
BEFORE:
AFTER: We had the room painted Farrow & Ball Green Smoke (which is reading a little different in these images – remember with paint colors, they will look vastly different in your house than any other house due to directional light, surroundings, etc!) This makes a rather large room feel so much more dramatic and welcoming, don’t you think? We added custom roman shades, window seat cushions and lots of traditional but classic and timeless furniture pieces to create separate sitting areas. OH, and that chandelier!!!! :)
I love this Visual Comfort & Co piece from Julie Neill’s collection.
Another before shot…
And after (before the bar was installed so ignore the plain settee in the corner).
I just love the combination of rich green, lighter blues and lots of textured neutrals.
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I love using back to back sofas in long narrow living spaces with a console between! It creates two separate but connected areas to entertain in.
A pretty detail shot.
This area is the MOST fun… BEFORE:
And AFTER!!! Now an incredible bar area!
Eliza, who was the managing designer on this project, really knocked this built in out of the park! And notice the ceiling!
A striated, textured grasscloth adds so much interest here!
We love seeing projects like this come to fruition, even though we can’t be there in person. And we do this ALL over the country! We are currently booking new projects for November 2021, so if you are interested in working with us please fill out the questionnaire on the website to start the discussion.

Hi-BEAUTIFUL ROOM! Can you tell me what line the glass coffee table is from? It is not like the one you tagged at end :) It’s a GREAT table! Would love any info you would be willing to share! Thank you!
Gorgeous color! That bar! My favorite nook is actually the dresser/mirror/light. After dark, that corner will be beckoning like the sirens… And those drawers are so darn practical with games, cards, etc. My only question is re: the side tables next to the sofas. They are gorgeous but so low that they seem entirely impractical??? What am I missing with that incredibly low height in relation to the arm height?
Love the hardware on the bar cabinets. I followed the link for the pulls and found those. Which knobs did you use? Do you recommend mixing knobs and pulls in a kitchen?
WOW! This is an amazing transformation. Makes me want a big house in the burbs.
I would love to read a blog post one day about the logistics of working with your team remotely. For instance, who takes all the measurements? For any contractors or vendors (like painters) that need to be hired, do you source them or does the homeowner? Who manages the install?
I just bought “Elements of Family Style” to give me some inspiration to make some updates to our house and family with one toddler. Love your work!
I love that light fixture so much I just bought it! And the green smoke paint color is beyond dreamy. Just lovely as always.
Gorgeous. I must be honest, though, I’m not crazy for the trim work painted the same colour as the walls trend. It makes it seems like there’s less depth\interest to me. That must be why I’m not a designer!
Oooh, that texture on the glass of the chandelier makes it so special! Beautiful work!
Gorgeous! Love the green. Any parameters on when (if ever) you would advise on painting a ceiling the same color as the wall/trim — especially with a bold dramatic color like this?
Wow. Absolutely stunning. (Again)
Gorgeous!!
INSANE good!!! Show stopping!! Bravo!
I decorated an entire house via devices only – email, text, phone and FaceTime:

Sorry – there are NO spaces in a web addresses. I don’t know why autocorrect refuses to allow that
Perhaps to remind you not to advertise in someone else’s space?
Beautiful and refreshing change to those rooms! Love the paint color! What brand of grass cloth wallpaper was used on the ceiling in the bar area? It’s stunning.
Stunning room – LOVE the color !! Beautiful design !!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Its lovely but I wonder why you paint the trim as well. It does unify the look but won’t it be difficult to remove in years to come? Wish I had the guts to do it!
I love the color, and to my eye, the previous white on white did nothing for the room. But I’ll answer Donna’s pragmatic question: yes, it will be somewhat difficult. The value of that beautiful green is a commitment, as you surmise, Donna. It will take a good primer and a paint with good coverage capability. Tone on tone is on trend these days. Trends come and go. That woodwork is beautiful, and they may very well want to change it someday to highlight it. Back in the early 80s, I painted over smoke blue trim using BM Linen White. It took four coats. I swore I’d never do it again. That was a long time ago, but I haven’t. My home has crown molding and baseboards much like those in this room. As lovely as I think this room is, I have adopted advice from Mario Buatta for *my* home: all trim should be white or cream. You can imagine what I think about black doors, LOL!
To me, that painted trim is the best part of this whole job! Glorious!
I think the nice part about this design is that it is classic and timeless which has longevity. I think they will get many years out of it before they would even consider re-painting the trim! What a beautiful space!!
Gosh I can’t imagine that the homeowner will want to change the trim color for a long time to come. I just redid my master bedroom and my designer recommended painting all the previously white trim and built ins and plantation shutters a pretty Farrow;& Ball gray to compliment a patterned wallpaper, and I love it and can’t imagine changing it back to boring white!!
HOLIE MOLIE…WHAT a TRANSFORMATION is RIGHT!! This is so pretty…the ceiling knocked it oit of the park!!! franki
Simply lovely
Wow! Looks like some very custom elements. Did you have long wait times with Covid? Wonderful room.
Hi! I love the visual comfort light!!! Gorgeous for this room. Do you, off hand, know of a more affordable version? Thank you!
The one in the collage is more affordable.
Perfect! Thank you!!!

Truly beautiful! I just learned that nobody in my family likes green, so I will just be admiring this on the interwebs. Beautiful 😀
This project is so amazing and inspiring!!! I love seeing the before & after–and it is even more impressive that you somehow did this all remotely! Brava!!
