I’ve had a few requests for a baby girl fashion post– and to be honest, I learned with Henry that buying really expensive stuff for babies is really dumb. They wear them MAYBE once, and then outgrow them. It’s hard NOT to, but it really is painful to see some of the incredible things I spent money on for Henry go into the hand me down/ donation bins. So with Emma, yes, I probably will splurge on some silly things, but for the most part I find insanely cute stuff on affordable sites you already probably shop at. So here are some finds from my most-frequented sites:
H&M is probably my #1– the quality is so good for the price, and they have the BEST ONESIES HANDS DOWN (most organic cotton too). They also have great toddler stuff for Henry so I shop here all the time. (Click images for links)
Maisonette is my fave “splurge” shop and where I look for baby gifts most often. They have have some of my fave “fancy” brands like Egg, Pink Chicken, Petite Plume and Roberta Rollerabbit. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have found some seriously cute and stylish stuff at Oshkosh and Carter’s! I always think of them as the purveyor of icky “Daddy’s Little Princess” printed items, but really they have upped their game BIG TIME. (Click images for links)
Zara is another affordable but super stylish spot, more in the “hipster baby” vein. Simple but chic styles at good prices. (Links at bottom). Gap and Old Navy are a classic source with great sales all the time. (Click images for links)
Hanna Andersson is also a great place for girls. They have so many sales, it’s hard to keep up!
I have 2 girls and love to buy girls clothes!! My trick is to find a good kids consignment store and figure out when they change over their seasonal stuff so you can check out the selection when it’s fresh. When I do splurge on new items from pricier stores, I feel better about it as I consign our stuff when my kids grow out of it! I struggle with fit and quality with h&m and Zara but we love crewcuts (jcrew factory has lots of crewcuts items for cheaper), mini Boden and Janie and Jack too. Primary has great basics in tons of colors so when you need a cardigan to match their Christmas dress or a sweatshirt to match a funky patterned pair of leggings they’re the spot to hit!
Thanks for sharing these recommendations! I love the styles from these brands and also find them attractive because they are affordable. My concern with all of the brands listed, however, is that they all rank very poorly on environmental sustainability and fair standards for workers. Kids grow so fast so it’s hard to invest too much in clothes, but for me, that’s all the more reason to be more conscious about the brands we purchase. Sharing an article with a few links to more ethical brands, in case you’re interested! https://goodonyou.eco/ethical-childrens-clothing-brands/. I love your posts very much – especially the most recent one about your birthday and just needing some time to yourself (HBD!). It was so honest and I hate to add one more thing to your plate to think about, but sharing in case it would be something you’d be interested in (especially given your partnership with Everlane, which is great on sustainability and ethics).
Fun post! I love love love kids clothes. Mine are slightly older but they still don’t have a strong opinions yet (yay). I adore Tea Collection for their soft cotton and fit on my string bean. Boden is always fun too.
How did I forget Boden?
Makes me miss those fun days of shopping for my kids, though there is so many more great choices now at amazing price points. Your two kids are absolutely gorgeous, and these newest photos are amazing. xo
These are all of my favorite go-tos as well. Old navy has been great for Toddler fashion, I have to say. Love your Carter’s assessment… daddy’s little princess 😆🤢
Emma and Henry are both such beautiful children. Henry really looks like he enjoys being a big brother.
My first 2 children were both boys and I had a lot of fun buying clothes for them, but I really went CRAZY when our third child was a girl, after a 13 year gap! I laugh when I think about the little girls clothing sale I had, just before we moved to a new house. My daughter was 5 by that time, but I hadn’t parted with any of her baby and toddler clothes. There had been a number of baby girls born in our neighborhood after my daughter. All the moms had said to let them know if I ever had a girls clothing sales. I had so many beautiful girls dresses, coats and play clothes and many had never been worn. Well they brought all of their friends and one mom said, ” How many little girls do you have!” That was a bit embarrassing.
Darling! And much more realistic than Henry’s baby wardrobe. Baby’s whole job is to grow up … which shoots holes in wardrobe planning.
I’d like a couple items in my size: the two toppers at Zara and the adorable leopard print dress and shoes at Old Navy. How would we know she’s your daughter unless she sports a bit of leopard print?
Erin, check out Monica and Andy, all organic and so cute. They change up the patterns every few months. I just ordered newborn and up items for a friend and she really loved them. The clothes are so cute for children now. I love the photo of Emma and Henry. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful birthday weekend.
Your children are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.Jean
Hey – agree with your assessments. I only have one and it’s so hard to see the beautiful stuff and not spurge on it for her- and even harder to realize that she only wore an item once or twice, if at all, due to an unexpected growth spurt. Check out Janie and Jack – their layette and infants lines are so classic and beautiful!
